Theres also the security reason, theres alot of people out there that refuse to send out their credit card information over the phone or online.
Alot of my family members occasionally browse the internet, but for the most part still shop the traditional way. As you mentioned, there are probably fewer using on-line services to provide for their financial business, because of the lack of trust. You do have to be carefully dealing with finances on-line, but it can be done fairly safe. Wife and I have and so far no problems.

That's when the word reputable comes into play. Amazon, DeepDiscount, BestBuy, and Tower are reputable online stores. If you have credit/debit card theft happening on any of those sites or similar sites then that's when you go get your money from a nice little lawsuit. Now if you're doing your online shopping through Roy's Multimedia Extravaganza then it would be more probable you would lose your credit/debit card number to someone else.

Exactly. More and more people are shopping online, but online holiday sales are still much smaller than in-store sales. When it comes to electronics I would buy it in the store if the price is very close to what I can buy it for online. If I cannot save at least 10% be buying online it is nice to have the piece of mind. Many electronic items at Costco have a lifetime return policy (Samsclub offers lifetime return policy on all electronics). For $10-20 extra it is nice to have the piece of mind.

For those of you that are unaware, many credit card companies offer one time use "virtual" credit card numbers which hide your true credit card. For instance if I were buying an item for $250 I would log into my credit card site, generate the virtual card number up to that amount, and then use it to buy the item.

Even the thought of possibly a return gives a shopper more confidence in the B&M stores. On-line can be a hassle and takes time to complete. I have actually paid more to get that assurance of a hassle free return through a B&M store.

It hasn't happened yet, but Im always afraid that one day Ill get a broken package in the mail, and Im just soo lazy to do all that return to sender bs. And I dont live in the states so that stuff can take weeks and weeks.
So for that reason I try not to do online shopping unless I have to(not available or its a really good deal)

Oh I see that it begins now! The marketing blitz for BD is really beginning! I will be curious to see just how, and if, this is effective for this holiday season!

We won't see B&M prices matching online prices anytime soon because the overhead is so much more in the B&M stores. They cannot compete on price, but the B&M stores can give the instant gratification we sometimes crave.

I would actually get worried if B&M prices match online prices because the only way they could do this is to raise the online prices or have a going out of business sale for the B&M companies.

This IS a sale for those who do not include online as part of their bargain hunting for shopping for things. It is better than nothing, but for us savy forum dwellers it is not much of a deal we would buy.
