Exclamation Here are two posts that HDM members/posters MUST read!

Here is the first:

OK ladies & gents. This is an "unofficial" warning to ALL.

I deleted a bunch of argumentative off topic posts. Posters will be held accountable to stop this kind of undermining of good threads with childish fighting. This is hurting the site and particularly this section.

Make no mistake that this is NOT how things have to be here. The level of mod activity is based upon how well members self-police THEMSELVES here, with respect for each other, and "behaving" within the rules of the site. No one wants to have more mod activity to restrict free exchanges of ideas, but when the fighting/attacking/trolling/taunting posts interfere and overtake such free exchanges of ideas/discussions it will be dealt with quickly.

Many members are complaining more and more and this problem has risen to the point where it effects nearly all threads in this section now and it MUST stop. This site is NOT for the select few to; fight in public, trolling and hogging the threads. This had made almost all threads a challenge to find the info WE came here to read/discuss. Those who do this, without regard for others, know who you are. To them I say stop it so we can just enjoy the site and have fun here.

This may seem like "playground rules", but the one who starts it IS the one who gets the greater number of infraction points, but ALL those involved could get infractions/warnings at the mods' discretion. Remember, I am not just a mod, but more so one of the members who have enjoyed this site and particularly THIS SECTION so I KNOW the dynamics of the people here and THAT will help my judgment going forward.

That means if someone truly attacks you, do NOT respond in kind as your first instincts have been IN THE PAST, but report it for mod action. Now this doesn't mean that if it is something very mild you should report it, and IF mild then maybe it does not need reporting.

USE COMMON SENSE!

We are adults (well most are anyway ), so use good judgment about this, because if too many posts get reported, more mods will obviously be needed to handle it, which no one wants. Remember....

Being mostly a self-policing site does not mean everyone mostly posts whatever they want regardless of the rules. It means they post WITHIN the rules, with RESPECT for ALL members, so they can have more latitude in what they discuss/debate. It means THEY self-police THEMSELVES with each individual post THEY make.

THAT is the vision of this site that I and most members love. Lets ALL work together to KEEP it that way, and if you cannot control yourself with "certain" members, then NOW is the time to use the ignore feature. That IS the purpose of the feature you know.

The vast majority have spoken that they want the fighting, trolling, and thread hogging to end. Common sense should be used by ALL members with how they conduct themselves. This really should be obvious.

This really shouldn't be hard to do this if we all work together to keep this great site as it has been (without the fighting, trolling, and thread hogging that is).

Common sense is needed by ALL members! Doesn't this really just make sense too?

And the second (necessary because some didn't change after the first one above):

Although I would have preferred this thread was not even needed, it has become necessary because THIS is the section where most of the problems come from. This kind of fighting/attacking is linked to the format war that is OVER. Some do not want to forget where the "battle lines" were while the war was going on or to let bygones be bygones.

As one of the oldest members here and certainly one of the most frequent members here in this section. There are certain members, who we ALL know, came here to attack others with opinions different from their opinions about HDM, SDM, SRT etc. etc.

I think most everyone knows me and I think everyone knows I am a fair guy. I love this site and THAT is what is most important to me. I was on opposite sides of the format war with some people, yet I somehow managed to keep things respectful. I expect that same from everyone else and that they FOLLOW THE RULES. I consider most of you friends and that is how I treated you. This is how we ALL need to treat other members here. I have ALWAYS defended the right and opinions of BD fans here when HD DVD was preferred by the majority of members here. I did my best to squash ANY talk about banning or asking quality members like the MANY quality BD fans here to leave just because they had differences of opinions.

It is clear that some people want to be disrespectful to other members in CLEAR violation of the rules I KNOW they are aware of. Those certain people have decided it is worth more to "GET someone" than to keep this site a valuable resource for info/advice and also a place to discuss our hobby without all the childish fighting that undermines so many threads.

Each of these new members have some good posts and HAVE contributed to the site, BUT the attacks WILL NOT stand ANYMORE. Consider this a notice of being BANNED if it continues. I want you to stay and contribute to the best forum on the net, but that will require you to knock that chip off your shoulder. Otherwise you WILL be banned despite me liking your contributions to the site. The site is more important so become a valued member or you will be gone. Rest assured that ALL members will be held to that same standard.

If someone has an issue with something a member posts at another site they are to deal with it at THAT SITE, by following that site's rules and handling it as that sites rules dictate. They will not be allowed to bring that fight HERE without being banned.

International Brands owns this site now and they want things clean and fun for all. IB makes the rules and WE ALL must follow them as members. Those who do not follow the rules can consider this your walking papers.

Many members have spoken that they want these childish fights that harm most good threads to STOP!!!!!!! They do not want it to continue and I hear them. Things will be cleaned up or else the people spoiling threads with childish fighting/attacks will go away.

I do not want to ban anyone so do not force me to prove my resolve. I am drawing a line in the sand now because people didn't take the "Unofficial Warning" above seriously enough it seems. That line drawn is that this is going to stop and EVERYONE needs to read that first post/part to know where that line is. The actions of a few who want to attack at the expense of the rest of the membership will either IMMEDIATELY correct their "ways" and follow the rules or they WILL be banned! Simple as that.

This is NOT a friendly warning anymore, but a final chance. Those who have not followed the rules in the past, should use this FINAL chance wisely.
