Nothing new here - I'd heard all of this from various sources long ago. Why would this surprise anyone after Paramount? The fact remains that Sony turned a dire situation around to its ultimate advantage. Strange that Toshiba didn't have a mole at WB like Sony had at Fox. We'll have to wait awhile to see how the HD disc thing plays out with the consumer. Personally I'm not confident that HD DVD would have gained mass acceptance if it had won - the studios are here to rape formats - period. I'll give BD one more year - at that time (3 years old) I'll either be able to walk into any DVD rental store and rent BD or I can't. If I can't then BD will be a niche product like LD - bigger and better, but still a niche. If I can then it has gained mass acceptance and DVD will either share the spotlight with it or slowly die out. Can Toshiba resurrect DVD? The next year should be interesting.

this is what I'm afraid of with blu... After getting massively burned with HD DVD. I told myself that I won't by into blu ray until new releases regularly sell a million copy's in the first week. once that happens, I'll feel much safer investing in all that expensive gear & HDM movies Again.

I can kind of see where you're coming from, but if everyone took that approach, the format wouldn't take off anyway. Also if BD dies, what is going to replace it? Maybe I'm just mad, but I see HDM as the pinnacle of home video for the next decade, if they do phase it out, I fail to see what real improvement we could really gain from a more advanced format.

Therefore even if no new films were made after next year, there'd still be no reason whatsoever to bother replacing them. But heck, I have about 150 HD DVDs

Super did you just start this thread to irritate all the BD zealots or are you just ranting? I mean honestly you have started about 4 or 5 threads since February that are basically just full of whining. Yeah, it stinks that HD DVD lost, but why dwell on it. This is about the success of HDM (1080p) now and whether it's BD, HD DVD, or Green-ray, it really doesn't matter.

There is nothing wrong with people knowing the facts. Now did this really happen? I don't know, but the guy that originally e-mailed this to me got back to me and told me he posted this somewhere on Amazon.com Forums

Happy searching because I cannot find it. It could be anywhere in the Amazon.com Forums.

But you might as well call the Amazon forums blogs as people with an I.Q. of 4 post there constantly. The Amazon forums are right above BD.com, where the average I.Q. is 3 and the average age is 9.

Generally, a fact is defined as something that is true, something that actually exists, or something that can be verified according to an established standard of evaluation.[1][2] There is a range of other uses, depending on the context. For example, fact may be argued under authority of a specific pedagogy, such as scientific facts or historical facts. Rhetorical assertion of fact is often forwarded without an implied or express basis of authority.

I'd say we are way into the "There is a range of other uses, depending on the context. " area here....

I really don't know how you can say something is a fact and in the next sentence ask "did it really happen?"

This reminds me of some southern types who are still fighting the Civil War from their porch. Let it go.

We're not still fighting the Civil War.

You damn Yankees just don't get do Ya?

We won, so what if slavery ended!

In Naw'lins there were very few slaves anyway (outside on River Road some of the plantations did), it had the largest free Black population of any city in the United States at the time.

We got you to come down and rebuild the entire South, introduce industry and general economic improvements and take our great unwashed and unemployed up to your northern cities.

And not tying to start a fight but Baltimore's crab cakes are mushy crap, you Yankees just can't cook!

Thank you!

There's little doubt WB was going to go HD DVD, that's why the HD DVD-A was so shocked and completely unprepared for CES. I suppose the undeniable truth about how it all went down will never be known, and it's a shame because the fate of the format war hinged on it.

Just admit to wasting everyone's time with a flamebait thread and be done with it.

Come on Bruce, "little doubt"
BD had better sales, more studios, more CEMs, more players in homes and there is "little doubt" that WB was going against all this?
