Thanks for pointing out the part of that post that was honest. Everyone should note that Lee lets you know when he is being honest. (pretty rare actually.)

Well,

I wouldn't mind if part of the thread was about this giftcard thingie but I'll just say this,...

When you learned the hoax was a hoax you could have let people know but prefered to let it bother people. Like you say anything that bothers people from BD.com (bluray.com actually) makes you feel great.

In fact,.. it bothered lots of people at AVS but you let them go on desperate for any accurate info when you knew it was a hoax.

You're just plain old sick. And you think you have some great reputation but you were frequently suspended even here where the mods usually can't be bothered with things like that.

I care about HT and If I had accurate info I would have given it and helped people deal with the war without getting wound up about it. I'm friendly but not to people like you who enjoy other people's suffering.

nuff said.

You better make sure that there is not a time limit on the gift card.

Too bad the old "war crimes", true or not, are being dragged up again. It's just movies on a shiny plastic disc, and there never was our freedom or anything else of real importance at stake. I'd wish we could leave the past behind us.

And for the record, i followed the SA0CD hoax as it happened here, on AVS and on BD.com and never really got the impression of Lee playing an active part in it. What is being discussed in pm's is private and i think as soon as Lee noticed how the whole thing started to get out of hands, he came forward. I don't see anything wrong with that, apart from shooting the messenger.

So, back to topic.....

I bought my 1st A2 from BestBuy during the Nov $99 blowout. Purchased online, picked up @ store. Still have the receipt.

Since it was thru the website, they will contact ME? Or better off to just go to the store, receipt in hand, and collect my booty?

With no expiration date, it means that $50 could be saved for an open box/floor model BD player? Hmm......will I be "purple" sooner than I thought?

edit: Ok...never mind.

Went the the BestBuy site. The front page has a link for this promotion.

Read the info--all good.

Also, BestBuy is offering this as well:

Good news (even if you didn't buy from us)

Be assured that your HD DVD player will continue to play existing HD DVD titles (and upconvert standard DVDs to near-HD quality) as it always has. If you purchased a Best Buy service plan with your HD DVD player, we will continue to honor it for the life of the plan. If, however, you wish to trade in your HD DVD player and HD DVDs, we offer a convenient way to do so via our Best Buy Trade-In Center. Beginning March 21, visit BestBuyTradeIn.com to get an instant estimate of the value of your HD DVD player and movies. See below for further information, along with additional resources that we hope you'll find helpful as you examine your options.

While I have zero plans to trade in my players/discs, this is another nice "olive branch" to those who do.

You & I got the same deal, crazyal. So now the A2 + 7 discs cost us around $50. Recently picked up a 2nd A2 online (refurb) for $50. So, minus the titles I actually bought, my hardware costs for 2 players is now approx $100. Not too shabby, actually.

Yeah....I may just end up grabbing a couple of discs, if BB discounts them further.

The no exp. date is a nice thing.

Same with me. I bought 2 at $99 - 1 for me and 1 for my brother-in-law. I am not sure I still have the reciept, but its possible. Having bought it on the website though with in store pickup, I imagine they'd just send it to me.

Instead of the 1 movie mswoods can get, I can buy 2 movies!! Woohoo!!

Guys you won't be just getting $50 back, its a trade in thing. You will have to send back your HD DVD player to a return center. BB will send a shippping label to you, once they get the unit they will send you a gift card 7 to 10 days later!

Are there any more specifics on this? I wonder if I qualify for the $50 gift card since I did buy my HD-A1 for $500 + an $80 extended warranty 2 summers ago. I am still glad to own an HD-DVD player, but a $50 gift card wouldn't be bad, considering that GTAIV is coming out soon!
