I don't have a PSP, but this might persuade me to buy one. But I will wait for it to become active, unless it already is? That I don't know.
The only titles currently available with digital copies are Family Guy Blue Harvest and Hitman SD and BD. A second disc is included. This second disk is ripped using iTunes. iTunes then asks for the pass code. It's printed on a piece of paper in the case.

No this is different. It's not a digital copy on the disc. It's a program installed on the PS3 that creates a digital copy from the existing copy. Takes about 3-5 minutes and makes the movie about 1 gb. Then transfers it to the PSP on a mem stick. Sony has said it will work with all BD movies. (DRM not withstanding) You can already do it with a DVD and software. This is just putting the software on the PS3 to do it.

It does not work with the PSP and it can't be burned, atleast not easily and no one can confirm that it can be. kinda stinks because I was looking forward to using my PSP again after it's been in my drawer for months. Hopefully they work this out soon so it becomes compatible. I haven't upgraded my iPod Nano to one of the many newer ones... my wallet can't handle all the constant versions of Apple products.
I think we are confusing two different types of "digital copy." One is the Itunes type copy included on the BD. The other is what I explained in my answer to cougardrew. It's different on the PS3. It's not active yet, but when it is, it will allow you to create a copy from any BD and essentially rip it to your PSP. At this point there are a lot of DRM issues to work out, so it might be a while.

Wow, that's right. I completely missed the first 3 words of that particular post to Cougar somehow. I must have saw Digital Copy and just read from that point... stupid move.

Gotchya.

Like I said, if this happens, it's a real incentive to me to get a PSP. I don't really care about the games, but portable movies on the PSP is pretty cool! And with a large enough memstick, you could plug the video output of the PSP into a RSE (rear seat entertainment) system and let the kiddos watch movies.

In my world (you don't want to go there) I would love to have the RSE's be HDD based instead of disc media. I could load up the HDD for a trip and not worry about having to switch discs. If I could "rip" BD's to a portable set-up in the car that would be fricking sweet!

Be prepared to wait awhile then because with today's bandwidth it would take you a couple hours to download one of those movies to your PSP.
