I have also decided, that my next hardware upgrade will concern the audio and i will keep my 720p pj for just a little while longer. I want to take better advantage of all the great audio tracks.

Of course I see a difference, a difference between a really low quality still image and a cleaned up version of it. But that isn't comparing SD material to true natively HD material. |

I'm already upconverting standard def onto a 80 inch screen, and with reasonably good standard def source material my existing equipment does a brilliant job and looks GREAT, so I can't see the great big deal about this new Toshiba technology. What will Joe6Pack get with it on his 36 inch TV that will make it worthwhile if my current upconverter makes it unnessecary for me on an 80 inch screen?

I don't think there is a problem discussing another tech that might hurt the adoption & mass market ability of the BD format. Sure some are talking like this will make BD moot, and it MIGHT for many people who do not care about HD audio too. Everyone keeps telling me that HD audio is not any where near as important as PQ, but it is to me, and maybe even more so.
I owned my sound system long before I even owned a HDTV, because SQ mattered more and got me "into" a movie more than PQ. I think it IS possible that SR upscaling could hurt BD adoption and keep it niche. Others think not, and they are entitled to their opinion too. Just because we discuss it and i think this new tech might hurt BD doesn't mean I do not like HDM or want it to fail. It just means I am being a realist from what I see. Time will tell how this plays out but it will likely be 9+ months before you know a lot more about this tech and how it could possibly play the spoiler for BD at that time.

I just love getting your hackles up! As other have said, you see this this as BD or bust (black and white). I don't. It seems to me that you are the one saying that WE are saying this tech is better than HDM. Story of the day: OMG, I can't watch this shit! It's only UC SD! It will hurt my eyes and ears! Maybe one day, BD will release this one.. I'll just wait cuz if it ain't 1080p and lossless... it ain't ever gonna be seen on my screen, in fact, I am just gonna throw this POS away!

Any thread that seems to "compete" with BD turns this way... kind of like it has always been since I joined...
too much like "join BD or shut up and go away" attitudes on here now which causes the opposite affect!

From who? Most people interested in Blu (including ex-HD DVD supporters) are being fairly realistic about it IMO.
