Two Great Movies Got Released Today. . .

And yet neither were a Blu-ray release.

Now a lot of people would say that these movies weren't justified by a Blu-ray release, but I disagree. Comedies and Dramas make excellent HD releases. You need only look at Knocked Up to see that. Anyways the two movies I am talking about are:

The Darjeeling Limited - Another great Wes Anderson flick.
Death at a Funeral - One of the funniest movies of 2007.

Darjeeling was distributed by Fox, and Death at a Funeral was distributed by MGM. Why the hell aren't these movies on Blu-ray? I understand that pre-Warner HDM was still a bit murky to bring any and all movies to HDM. Nobody really knew what was going to happen in 2008. After Warner, however, I think it was pretty much a sealed deal that Blu-ray was going to win and as such more and more movies should be brought out. This is no time to lighten up with the release dates. . .

I was really really looking forward to watching both of these in HD, especially Darjeeling Limited which had some amazing footage. Unfortunately I had to resign myself to buy the DVDs. I only hope they upconvert well enough so I don't notice to much of a difference.

Death at a Funeral is an excellent comedy. I imported that one about 4 months ago. Definitely a keeper.
