Expect the clearance sales to start soon. I picked up Hot Fuzz at BB for 19.99 when it was stickered as 29.99. (stunning picture, btw!)

Obviously a lot of these titles can and will get BD releases pretty quickly. But some won't. There are ones WB still has not put on BD.

Which ones will see only HD DVD releases for some time to come, perhaps years?

I think Star Trek: TOS will be a long time coming, since Paramount is just generally dragging their feet on bringing ST to HDM (they were the same way on DVD). What about King Kong? The Breakfast Club? The Jerk?

I'd wager the Universal catalogue titles and Weinstein releases will be the last to hit Blu-ray, though it sounds like many of the WB exclusives are gonna have to wait until 2009 before seeing release on BD.

Actually,

With the format war ending,.. I'm trying to dump my laserdiscs. I figure it's time.

I already recorded the content in MPG but most programs that I use to create a DVD result in some loss of quality.

I'm going to try to give my LD player the boot though..

I hope releases step up with just 1 format. In the UK the release schedule is 32 upcoming HD DVD titles, 35 upcoming Blu-ray titles.
