Most of Sony is good. It's the crap they pulled where they installed software on your computer when you played on of their music CDs. Great idea to put a BT remote on the PS3 but where are the other products to work with it? Does Sony have TV's, sterios, anything that uses BT other than the PS3?

Here's two ideas they could have done 1:Just add IR to it and let the market adapt to BT remotes. and/or 2: Have a full lineup of CE that use the BT remote as well so we could start to see the full potential of BT remote controled CEs.

Sony is good for giving me options others don't. Sony is bad for leaving out the options that are industry standards in favor of their own.
+1 Totally Agree.

For my situation, I hope Harmony comes out with a remote that supports the PS3 (i.e. built in BlueTooth...)

It would be nice to not have to use the USB dongle, but I have to say that it does work pretty good!

The whole BT remote technology would be great for hidden systems!

BT alone is just crazy at this stage where the whole industry is still IR for remotes. I would have no issue with adding BT and keeping IR as an option until the day that BT becomes the industry standard.

I imagine if Harmony comes out with a BT version, it will be a high end (and cost) model like the 880/890 models that have RF capabilities. I wouldn't pay an extra $100.00+ for such a model, but it might eventually trickle down to all models at some point.

I hear you about the simple idea of including an ir receiver. If nothing else they could have included the receiver and sold two levels of remote. or even just the one and let companies adjust.

Never the less, I am still 100% behind BT remotes. I wish they all switched tomorrow, but that won't happen. I would say Sony is guilty of pushing the industry for sure. I don't see what they have staked in BT right now, so I don't think it's fair to think that they are trying to push "their own" technology on this one, though they do that a lot. BT is too universal right now. But it is pushing the industry, hopefully the rest of the industry will not sit back and do nothing. I am hoping to see BT in remotes much more common. I'm literally excited about the possibilities!

That's probably why Sony forcibly retired the PS3 designer.

What is there for me to get over? The fact that I've enjoyed titles exclusive to HD DVD that you Blu boys may or may never get anytime soon?

Or the fact that you have 7 posts and felt that you should randomly quote the first post of a thread created last week?

Yeah I'm sure the HD DVD studios would rather let their movies sit idle, rather than re-release them to defacto Blu-ray standard and make lots of money.

Yep.

Sure.

Uh huh.
