He probably did do research, it's just, "upscaling" "True HD" "1080p" etc are to many people, a completely alien language. People may try doing research, and think they know what they want/need, but have just completely misread the marketing materials.

It's gonna be confusing when shops sell "High Definition Upscaling DVD Players" "High Defintion DVD Players" and "Blu-ray High Definition DVD players" unless you're savvy about what they are already. Of course, that factor is only compounded more with anacronyms for the "HDD recorder upscaling High Definition DVD players" etc getting in the way too. "HD HDD DVD player" wtf?

Top educate the consumer the HD DVD studios need to include a short educational blurb at the beginning of each of their DVDs. The consumer at least will note its there before they skip it and when they try to play an HD DVD in their DVD upcoverting player and it doesn't play they can then slip a DVD in with the blurb and find out why it doesn't work! At that point they can think to themselves - "damn I should have watched this before I bought my new upconverting DVD player and those 25 HD DVDs!" "

Cheers,

Grant

Jodi Sally - In the words of Donald Trump, "Your Fired!"

Toshiba paid 2.7 million for the exact same ad that they have been airing for most of the football season!?!?! With only a price tag slapped on at the end! Jodi Sally - VP of Marketing? Are you kidding me? This was the best that you and your team could come up with?

Billions of dollars are at stake here, the opportunity to shine in front of MILLIONS of Americans, and this was it, an existing HD DVD commercial, that you have been playing to football fans already, for the SUPER BOWL?

Seriously Jodi, which team are you really playing for?
