Not sure. I'll normally post a what's up in this thread and check it a couple days later. That's pretty much how things go around here.

I don't think people really have the time to sit around in a thread of a message board all day and night to talk about complete nonsense. But it's cool to keep a random thread like this open so we can post the occasional message to one another just to say hi.

I hope your day is going good, sprk!

That's what this thread has always been about "nonsense"....with people visiting all day and night. A lot of friendships were developed here with people from all over. If there's enough people hangin' around they'll stick around. It's not much different than the Gaming thread...with a different subject or subjects...going on

I had a good day SB, hope yours was as well.

See ya.

Yeah, there's no doubt we logged many days and hours into this thread, and there were a lot of good times. But when you take away a group of people who do nothing but sit at a computer and drink all day, then of course the number of new posts you see will dwindle a bit.

The majority of people here at the HDF are busy in other parts of the Forum contributing to things relating to High Def. And if they aren't, then they are in the No Topic area of the forum. The point is that this thread isn't a representation of the activity level of the board. I think this forum has what, 115,000 members? And the majority of people who come here aren't looking for a "Bar".

I'm just trying to put things in perspective for ya, Sprk! I know you always see cobwebs around here, but that's because this thread doesn't have the same purpose as it use to.

Have a good night, sprk!

It's going great, Sig!

You will enjoy that season, especially seeing Bisping at such a young age, you're in for a treat!

Are you watching UFC 100 on Saturday?

She was so excited for the fireworks going on outside. I saw so much of myself as a kid in that bright face of hers. It was just one of the moments as a Dad that really gets you, ya know?

PFC, great to hear you guys had a lot of fun at the carnival. There's nothing like some good 'ol traditional family fun.

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

Those really are the best moments that we get in life, I believe. My two sons are grown up now, but I do have one grand daughter who will be turning 4 in August. She calls me papa, or papa Gary.

I just love the little kids because they are so innocent, and they can still experience joy so easily. I still have a very vivid memory of my 1st wife and I picking up my youngest son from kindegarden one day, probably 1988-89. It was just down the street from where we lived, so we walked. It was near Thanksgiving, and the kids had been doing TG crafts, etc. My son had this funny little black paper "pilgrim" type hat on his head, and he was literally skipping down the sidewalk in front of us, just singing away "la la la la la..." happy as could be, and I remember that it made me cry because I was so happy that HE was so happy, and didn't have a single care in the world!

Still makes me cry today to think about it...

I just wish that everyone could be that happy, ya know?

Makes you want to just protect/shelter your kids/grandkids forever from all bad things that life can bring. But I guess that it's the bad things in life that make the good things so special~

Great reflection gw, those are some great memories.

Isn't the worst thing when you see you kids happy and running around and then they trip or fall down? Very few things make you feel worse, I'm convinced of that.

Being a parent really does throw you in all kind of emotional directions. One second you're enjoying life with your kid, the next moment you're freaked out because you don't want your kids to grow up, and while you're thinking about all this stuff your kid comes and hits you in the head with a water balloon.

I also wish people were more happy and enjoyed their families more. I'll do my best to keep my family close knit and start new traditions of our own.

We'll have to get together for a Kings game this year!

Yep. Check THIS out: My oldest son, when he was about 10 or 11, was complaining that his stomach hurt. My wife & I checked him out & we even called the Dr to see if it could be his appendix, but we were assured that it couldn't be, because if it was, he would be doubled over in pain. So basically, we/I figured he was just whining, and we told him to go outside & play~ This was on a Sunday afternoon. He was still complaining, so my wife took him to the Dr the next morning & I went to work. Well, I get a phone call from my wife telling me that my son's appendix had BURST, and that he was prepping for EMERGENCY SURGERY!!!

Holy shit. I'm telling you, I felt like the BIGGEST ASSHOLE THAT HAD EVER LIVED!!!!

What had happened was that he had been on antibiotics for something else, and the Dr figured that it had partially masked the symptems of the apendicitus...

Talk about praying to God that I hadn't killed my own son!!!

Well, he didn't die, thank God, and the surgery went well. But, yeah, seeing your kids hurt, wether physically or emotionally is worse that you getting hurt yourself for sure!

Hey, that sounds great!! I just got my "invitation" from Luc/The Kings yesterday, to their "Pick Your Seat Night" @ the Staples Center on June 15th... (they actually do it by setting you up with a "personal" website now, something like GaryHoughton.Kings.net or something... I forgot the addr right now.

But anyway, I may look into a small "package" of games this year~ Money is a bit tight, but I think you can get decent "nosebleed" seats for a reasonable price, and I have always LOVED the Staples Center as far as being a great place to watch Hockey! Easy to get to/from your seat, LOTS of food choices & bathrooms so you NEVER have to wait more than a couple of minutes for anything!

For sure I would like to go to at least one of the Kings/Sharks games, as my oldest boy (Mr ex-appendix) is a Sharks fan~
