Portland Waterfront Blues Festival 2009
![]() ![]() We sit in front of the two Oak trees on the left on our blankets and sand chairs with a dozen or so friends...lots of micro-brew beer flows at the festival...I think Widmer is providing the beer this year...and a buddy of mine docks his 40 foot boat and we party for a day on his boat...... the night of the 4th...barges are docked on the river and they shoot off 45 minutes of fireworks.... ![]() We live 45 minutes away from Portland, but we stay at the Marriott across the street...stumble back to the hotel afterward....and the bell-hop puts me on the luggage cart and takes me to my room... and we start all over again the next day after breakfast....oh the festival is next to the Hawthorne Bridge in Portland..I was there in this picture, right in front of the Oak trees on the right, can you see me?????

The constant talk about cobwebs here in this thread. As I said, if you want to complain because how this thread has changed since certain members were banned just go to where they post instead of coming here. This is not the first time i have mentioned this to you.

After a long day of BBQ'ng I dozed off at around 7p. At 9p my daughter comes running to me and shakes me and starts yelling, "Daddy, they are doing fireworks outside, let's go. C'mon daddy!" She was so excited for the fireworks going on outside. I saw so much of myself as a kid in that bright face of hers. It was just one of the moments as a Dad that really gets you, ya know? PFC, great to hear you guys had a lot of fun at the carnival. There's nothing like some good 'ol traditional family fun. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! |

I get that same feeling when I hear the beginning music for Disney movies remembering the Disney movie every Sunday at 7:00pm when the whole family watched it together. Being the youngest (of five) I always got the worst floor seat, but it was still a great memory. We started a tradition at fireworks that goes back to when my oldest kids (now 18 & 19) went to the fireworks with me. We name each type of fireworks and call them out when we see them. One looks like the Omega symbol, and another looks like a Weeping Willow tree so that is what we named them. My oldest 19 year old daughter still calls them out when she watches them.

Spent my 4th at Myrtle Beech with my daughter and grandson. My grandson is my love of my life. One of the most important things in my life now. Everytime I see my daughter it seems we bond even more. This was by far a great vacation and Myrtle Beech was nice too.

I'm dissapointed that you didn't post any twitter updates from the Blues Fest.
![]() From what you described about the fest it sounded like something I would enjoy, I'm glad you had a good time. What's your travel schedule like this week? |
