Just got back from Bass Pro Shop!

Bought more stuff! (Cripes - this is addictive! )

Bought a new hat too! A BPS "trucker" style hat - with the ventilation. (The "Mr. Fisherman" hat didn't look good on me.)

Hey - don't laugh - I keep hearing about "presentation" when it come to fishing.

Got like 6 items - for $28 including tax . .

Including a new kind of lure (for me) . . .

A "twitch bait" - TW by Heydon. . .

Now I am learning to "walk the dog" . . . . again

I used to do that with my Yo-Yo.

I never have any luck using the walk the dog. Hope you do better at it than me.
I did go to my favorite pond after work this evening to do a little fishing. I caught two largemouth bass. Not very big but fish nonetheless.
You're lucky you have Basspro close to you. None around here close luckily or I would be broke.

So what do you use for a Top Water Twitch Bait if not Walk The Dog?

BPS is not "close" - well I guess it is - 30 minutes away and $2.00 in tolls RT.

Catching ANY fish is fishing!

Even 4" Breem!

So Junkie - please explain this to me . . .

I catch these Breem (really small Blue Gills) - Then I use a good sized hook - stuck under their chin - then up through their nose - then toss them out into the middle of the canal . . .

And I am not getting any hits on them.

This morning I had one out on the line and this big LM Bass comes up to the shoreline where my "little buddies" wait for me to throw them Bagel Bits (and try to catch one - usually they get the bread off the hook without getting caught ) . . .

I reeled in my little buddy right into the middle of the school - and the Bass "sniffs" at him - then goes chasing another fish instead. Happened 3X BTW.

?

I suck at top water fishing. I usually use a popper or a Jitterbug.
Bass are funny. Are they chasing breem after seeing yours? Are you killing the breem or hooking them while they are still alive? I asked this because a bass will attack a fish that looks injured. Another possibility is the bass has either seen the hook or the fishing line and it spooked him away. Bass are very smart, if you can see it, it can see you and most of the time they won't hit.
Those breem that you are using should catch fish, bass or atleast a catfish. Most predator fish will see a wounded fish and take advantage of its misfortune. Fish can be as agrevating to you as it can be relaxing.

Amen brother!

The Breem are alive - they last anywheres between 30 minutes and an hour depending on how big they are (bigger last longer)

Yes - he can see a hook. I thought about adding a second leader ( on 2') to lower the Breem to 4' where the clarity of the water disappears. Hook is not shiney.

I'd try lowering like you said to see if they will hit it. I'm not a live bait fisherman. I like to throw plugs and lures. Live bait will catch bigger fish though.

Will do that tomorrow.

I am a lure and bread man myself . . with a little plastics when I get dragged to a site with Mr. Fisherman and his friends that can't take an exposed hook - has to be weedless.

OK . . . you can laugh all you want about the bread bait but I have caught the following on bread(bagel):

Grass Carp
LM Bass
Mudfish
Lge Blue Gill
Lge Oscar
Snakehead.
