Charcoal tastes way better. Plus it takes awhile to ash over so that means more drinking time.

I use charcoal and wood. I put enough charcoal in the grill to keep the heat, then I put pieces of apple wood in for a smoke flavor. I've used all different types of wood but apple has the best flavor.

Yep, more drinking time. The way I cook and smoke steaks it takes me almost two hours to cook steaks. I put my steaks on the top rack away from the heat, I add apple wood and get it hot and smoking. I smoke it as long as possible. Where I cook it away from the heat, the meat is tender as can be with a great smoke flavor.

I'm really suprised a lot more people don't stop by just to chat. This is the only thread that isn't specific on what to discuss.

Man that sounds amazing. I don't have a grill that could do that. Mines just a little one for the back patio.. Don't have much room back there.

Just bought a new grill last week. One with cast iron grilling surface and a firebox on the side to smoke meat.

My grill is nothing fancy, its a 54 dollar walmart grill. You can buy misquit and other types of chips at Wally World to add to your charcoal. I cut my own apple though. Try some of the chips you can buy. Just toss in a few, it will change the flavor of your food. Its really suprising.

Yeah me too. Once I found out about this thread I thought it was awesome. I figured it would get much more traffic.

Now you're talking. I have a smoker. I love to make my own smoked pork ribs. My kids are in 4-h and raise pigs. I love slaughter time and the fresh ribs and meat.
