matters not. We be talking J6 here - not us computer nerds. a majority of movies are not bought on line - but at B&M stores - with WalMart being the biggest in the world. matters not where you shop - but where the masses shop.

I agree with Oblioman on this one. Toshiba would be making a huge mistake doing anything that threatens BDA studios from using and selling DVD. It would als be extremely petty too and probably illegal and I doubt if Toshiba would ever do anything like this.

Toshiba does not have that power. The DVD Forum is the power behind DVD. Yes Toshiba is the permanent chair but there are 19 other companies on the Steering Committee.

Besides, if studios were forced to choose between DVD and Blu-ray, sorry Blu-ray, DVD wins. There's no way they're going to fall on that sword.

My local NBC news this morning had a lead in with "Toshiba fights back" and then went on to discuss the things mentioned in this thread regarding the marketing plan and cutting the prices in half.

Just thought I'd mention the publicity this is getting.

I think it was speculation to be begin with. I certainly wasn't speaking about it as being a real and viable option.
