Next wave of HDTV adopters may lean towards HD DVD!!!

If there's one group that likes the format war, it's market analysts. The latest prognostication comes from The Diffusion Group (TDG), which looked at consumers intending to bite into the HD fruit in the next six months. These "HDTV Intenders" tend to, among other things, have a lower income than the "early adopters" who have already taken the HD plunge. But here's the rub: among these "HDTV Intenders," TDG finds that 43% prefer HD DVD and 27% Blu-ray. If that figure holds up, will it be enough to decide the format war? TDG expects this group of mass-market buyers to open their wallets as the early adopter wave settles down in he beginning of 2008. No doubt about it, we've seen growing evidence that both HDM camps are reaching for lower price points.
This research may be a few weeks old but I think it still applies today. Though I do admit the Warner news has traveled around. Price will win in the end for the average person.

Damn it!

Can you PLEASE stop showing stuff like this that is pre-Warner going BD that completely change what they would be saying?

It was already posted before and there is no need to start another thread especially now.

Nope. I don't think it applies any longer, sadly

You'd have to see a mass of people (millions) adapting to HDTV within' months, and also choose HD DVD, that isn't going to happen...even in years, IMHO.

Still it would only matter if those stats mattered, I don't think they do.

I see ya working man for support of your chosen format, I even admire it, but I'm starting to see (as evidenced here) it's almost the dawn of the blu-era.

peace

No kidding!!! I don't think you mean it Super, but a lot of these threads just give me a sort of "what could have been?" feeling that just drag me down even more.

It is really getting to the point that I think XP is still completely in denial about what has happened. It is sad to see it, but also a pain because it just wastes everyone's time reading the same stuff repeated under a new thread.

No I am not in denial, this applied back then and it still applies now more than ever. The Warner move was a big blow to HD DVD, but price will win in the end and it all depends on which format can get their first

It may still apply (some) if the two major HD DVD exclusive studios remain exclusive but that is even looking unlikely. Sad but true.

Without that HD DVD is done for. Neutral will not be enough.

Why didn't you just post in the old thread about this? Why keep making new threads for old posts? That is the worst part of this thread.

I couldn't find the old thread. And right now U/P/D is HD DVD exclusive. Unless Toshiba comes out with a press-release stating otherwise.

Anybody writing and/or thinking that HD DVD lost its exclusive studios is based on nothing but pure BDA propaganda & baseless speculation with absolutely no facts to back them up regardless at what Warner did.

If and when HD DVD comes out with a press release that would be the only time we will know the truth of the matter.

And reading up on many of “your” posts, you don’t BS from what I’ve read, you have great non-bias & helpful posts. But you & many others need to understand that we don’t know what’s up with the HD DVD group. And I trust you understand what I am trying to explain hear.

I admit I was in total shock when Warner went Blu, I am sure many of us were, so this is a sensitive situation for many of us. I know it’s a format
Take Care,

It's getting worse on these forums, guys. I mean it must be getting bad. Bruce hasn't posted for a while now. We need more intelligent topics, lol!

I really don't see HDDVD taking off moreso than ever now that one of the major studios just went Blu.

Seriously... look how many outlets there are for buying Bluray vs. HDDVD. It drove me nuts trying to find films at my local stores. For cryin out loud I couldn't believe Toys R' Us now carries Bluray movies, and might I say they are selling really damn well. They had 5 shelves full of movies for their promotion and there is barely any selection left. Whether anyone likes it or not these movies are selling well.

You can post all you want about your fantasies of Warner switching back making them look incompetent or posting how people are really going to latch on to HDDVD now while they are at their darkest hour, but I don't believe that. Time will tell, but unfortunately the way is purple if you want to assure you'll get your titles in HD period. Unless you want to wait 2 more years, I sure as hell aren't. I've waited 2 years already and only in the last 4 months jumped in the HDM war

That's because everyone is just posting crap. We don't even see releases posted anymore. Or serious discussions about things that are actually interesting. All we see is the same 4 or 5 topics revisited every few days.
