I love my HD-A1,and A-3, Hell I have Combo Laserdisc Player still . Does anyone have faith in Ch-DVD? I mean it's almost the same and cheap for them to manufacture for us . That might sway future progress with BD, No one said that any of these contracts were permenant. They do make up 41% of our imported goods and electronics . I also own 3 Blu -ray players and none of them are used as much as my HD's are.

I have no plans on selling or getting rid of any of my 4 HD DVD players.

I am keeping my player & movies and will get another HD DVD player with more movies in a few weeks time.
Nobody should sell their HD DVD players. They work just fine and play all DVD's & HD DVD too

My Blu-ray drive is my HD-DVD drive, so it's kinda hard for me to get rid of one and keep the other.

welcome to HDF! Imo it´s quite hard to comment on your question. Many ppl who have HD DVD now also have bought movies. These existing movies will play on the existing players for years. So there really is no need to "sell" all hardware and software now and make everything "blu", especially since most of the software which is (in a few months "was" ) available on both formats will have exactly the same encode. So i am keeping all my stuff and keep buying the HD DVDs i care about. Even those from WB.If my first HiDef player was a recently bought HD DVD player, i think i would see things differently. I think i would feel somewhat cheated, especially with all the pledges to stay neutral by WB in 2007, just to have "the plug pulled" concerning their software in the first week of 2008. Afaik the WB titles are about 35% of the total software selection for HD DVD today. I think i would return my player, buy a Blu-ray player (if i found one i want that is) and wait how things progress with HD DVD. They have been declared dead before, after all....

I'll keep my A2 and the 23 movies I already have.
I'll continue to get HD-DVD's for my video library. I'll buy a A35 (or a 4th-gen player, when & if available) at a fire sell (if it get's to that point). I used my Pioneer Laser-Disc player (I had 75 Laser-Disc movies) until I replaced it with the A2. |

I am keeping my A2 and even bought 2 more movies last night at BB, I will most likely go back this weekend to pick up a few more. There is no way that I will start over buying into Blu-ray just to see it fail in another year or however long it last.

I'm keeping my XA2 and if they show up somewhere as a "fire sale" item as the format fades, I'll buy another one just to keep as a spare. I'm roughly split down the middle with 50 each of hd-dvd and blu-ray. I just bought the HP collection on hd-dvd and will continue to buy them when there's a title I want not available on blu-ray.

All 5 of my HD DVD players are going absolutely nowhere anytime soon! I keep them all network connected, so I can go into any room and get the full HD DVD movie watching experience.
When I want to get into a somber mood, I go to my office where the PS3 sits and just stare at it sitting there gathering dust...I still can't believe that I paid that much, for a lousy Game Machine! My son hardly plays the damn thing anymore, since my wife bought him a Wii for x-mas! ![]() If it wasn't backwards compatible with existing PS2 games, I would probably sell it on e-bay.

As to the subject of am I keeping my XA1, HELL YES! Why would I sell what is maybe one of the best built pieces of electronic equipment I've ever seen? It is a superb DVD upscaler and with it's built in audio decoders is the equal of an high end audiophile's CD player which costs as much as $1500. And I know right now we are getting overrun with new BluBoyz who are posting that we should just give up on our HD DVD players and buy a Blu-Ray player. I probably will when they get the right player out there for an acceptable price, but I'll be damned if I'm paying more and getting less in respect to the available Blu-Ray players out there right now. They don't have any 1.1 spec players that have built in decoders for lossless audio and mostly they have obsolete 1.0 players that for the most part don't either and even with them trying to sell them to replace them with the finalized 1.1 spec player soon to arrive, they are still too expensive for what you get. And is so far as the so called large numbers of HD DVD players on eBay being sold, a lot of those are new players being sold by eBay sellers (they have been selling in fairly high numbers for well over a month) and are not all used players being sold by panicked owners trying to dump them, there might be a couple but in any large crowd you will always have a few idiots.

I just bought a spare XA2 on Ebay for $450 new. Seller has a couple more available I think.
I hear you on those XA1 players Unotis. They are tanks with the finest ingredients. Wish I had one, but I got an A1 anyway. |

but it's tough cause you can't get that dust off the power button without turning it on! The only reason I bought it was so I wouldn't be screwed when wanting to play PS2 games(It's the 20gig). I only have 1 BD movie, that a friend bought me , to tease me about the WB announcement(prick). I still haven't opened it! For the OP , I will never sell my HD DVD player, I bought 3 movies this week and will continue to buy more. Also I will definitely be getting as many players as I can , if HD DVD does lose. |
