Pioneer Elite?
Marantz?
Denon?

Toshiba?

Since when did Toshiba become a CE powerhouse. Before this mess their stuff was budget level gear at best

Uhm, yes, Toshiba is a CE powerhouse and has been for decades. Just look at their sales. You may not like them as much as Pioneer or Marantz or Denon, but Toshiba dwarfs them in CE sales.

I believe Toshiba's worldwide CE sales exceeds all three of them combined.

You may want to read the opinions of objective industry experts whose productions have been optimized for both formats, rather than the opinions of FanBoys:

Talking about quality. Not $50 DVD players.

You mean Toshiba have been making 200% profit when the A3 were selling for 299 couple months ago? lol. What a rip off.

Toshiba make some really good CE gear. Their TV's go on forever in our house and we have a Microwave they made too which is 11 years old now.

Isn't the ps3 on life support too? Because they are off loading it at a loss also! A major one at that too. It's DEAD last in the console race and only sold a mear 49633 consoles last week while the x360 even out sold the Wii at 80467 consoles. The highest place any ps3 game sold is 31st place the week While the x360 has 5 out of the top 10 games sold for the week. There is no "warner" type news for the ps3 like HD DVD got, So why is it DEAD last again and being off loaded at a huge loss!
HA HA, I just crunched some numbers there on the weekly totals, x360 out sold ps3 by a ratio of 1.6:1
isn't that was blue was selling over HD DVD before the warner announcement and the blue brigade was calling HD DVD dead because the movie ratio was rounded off to 2:1 blue?

In the eye of the beholder.

If Toshiba's stuff is such junk, why do they thoroughly and consistently outsell the other companies you listed?

Easy, they cost less.

What would you rather have.

A Toshiba DF player or a Marantz?

At this point I would honestly have to say the Toshiba! At least I know that it will not be released to the public without it working correctly and ALL of it's specifications complete!

For someone like you to come here after the Warner announcement and spread your crap. Gives you know credibility. According to Blu Ray HD DVD has been on life support since the beginning. GET LOST.

It depends on the price. Consumers don't consistently and repeatedly buy junk, even for a low price.

I don't have significantly higher regard for Marantz products. The Marantz name was purchased and they have nothing to do with the historical Marantz Company, having first been bought out by Superscope, then Philips and now are part of a holding company that also includes Denon. Toshiba, Marantz and Denon all sell products built in China.
