Default CES 2008 Central Thread - Put Everything Here Please-

Hey Guys,
CES is getting close and we are anticipating some big news and changes. There are many rumors floating around; so I thought it's nice to have one central thread about CES so we can discuss everything (HDM and non HDM related). Remember guys, this MIGHT be the last CES thread before the format war is over ( if ever) so put all your speculations, opinions and predictions here. AND PLEASE, LETS KEEP IT CIVIL.

By the way, is Sunday the day for Microsoft keynote and HD DVD/BD announcements?

In on one.

I can't wait to see what unfolds over the next week or two. I need to call a doctor because I need some medicine for the spins as I predict there will be a lot from both camps.

Soon after this CES, I predict that most of us here will need to buy new High Def players, and re-invest in a crapload of disks. Many of us will have firesales on our existing collections.

I'm a sucker for new toys and technologies; definitely new products to buy
As for firesale, if either format goes away I'll keep my collection. I'm sure there will be players produced (combos or standalones) for the dead format. you can count on companies like OPPO
I also like to keep my collection in order to remember it years from now and tell my grand kids the stories of this format war when the next format war starts I still look @ my Beta-max tapes and quadraphonic LPs once in a while.

Can you edit your post? Might as well post the TV schedule for CES in the 1st thread for all to see.

I want to but I don't see the edit function below my post. Can some one help me out here?

By the way I added a poll for fun. It's not public so choose your answer

PS: Thanks Lee for posting the schedule. I'll put it in the first post as soon as I find out how to edit it.

Let me see:
-BDA rolls out 1.1 players, possibly one 2.0 player
-Maybe one more Dual Player manufacturer announced
-MS announces Xbox360 HyperDrive Edition (HDDVD - duh)
-No Blu Exclusive company changes stance
-No Red Exclusive company changes stance
-WB will not make any changes
-BDA announces they are winning the war because they won every week of '07 in Software Sales and have the largest total Hardware base
-HDDVD claims victory because they sold more SAL's and have better attach rates

Also this is the last CES in which Bill Gates does the opening keynote. I'm going to miss his keynotes in CES; he's not as good as Jobs with his Reality Distortion Field but I find him a good character to do a keynote for a show like CES.

My most anticipated prediction (HyperDrive reminds of the sort of names companies used to promote hardware back in late 80s and early 90s).

You using my favorite adage?

"To foretell the future . . . look back to the past."

PS: - It ends Jan. 10th BTW
