Default HD Screen Saver Question!

I've been reading on this forum for a week or so now, but this is my first post! I appreciate any and all help!

I'm looking into buying a HD screen saver for my 52" Sony Bravia. What are the best companies out there? Also, do any of the web sites have preview's? Thanks!

You shouldn't need a screen saver for an LCD.

If you are looking for some ambient visuals go for Natures Journey.

Stay away from the HD virtual aquarium/fireplace BS.

Welcome to the forum!

As Kamspy said, you do not need a screen saver for an LCD display because it cannot burn-in an image.

Yes it can. It takes months of displaying the same image to do it, but it can be done. I have seen several LCD computer monitors with the Windows Start button and MSN Messenger burned into them. So this isn't just a problem for CRTs.

However, if you're using your LCD as a video screen, you probably don't have anything to worry about, unless you hit pause on a movie and leave it up on the screen for a year.

I don't see anything wrong with wanting a screen saver. They can be fun, and they certainly can't hurt. (I assume the OP hooked his 52" Sony Bravia to an HTPC.

How about DLPs? I was pretty sure they cant be burned. I know my fathers projection HDTV has some bad burn from the new stations he watches all the time and also the screen is whiter on the sides from non HD channels. He keeps the TV on during the day "for the dog" and I told him he had to keep it on full screen so it would burn evenly. Its pretty old for an HD set from like 2003 or so.

Maybe I said that wrong.

I'm not looking for a screen saver because it NEEDs one, but just because I'm looking for a cool HD one.

So those HD aquarium, fireplace, etc are junk?

Also, anyone have a good LCD cleaner that they would recommend?

Sure. They have these wipes at wal-mart that come in a white container with a blue top. They are specifically made for cleaning LCD screens, monitors, and any other electronics. You'll find them in the Electronics section.
