Warner will decide nothing until next year. It will take that long just to see how well Harry Potter did on each format. If they choose Blu then so be it, not the end of the world and it's not going to kill HD DVD. Unless they took money to sign a contract saying they will not release in HD DVD (and it would take M$ kind of money to get them to do that) they can always start releasing in HD DVD agina. The same is true if they choose HD DVD.
I really don't think the BOGO sale over at Amazon right now is helping the BD cause either. Sure the titles are selling but not in great numbers as was the case for Disney during the first one. Just think about what they are going to be saying if by cutting the price in half and still not seeling well on that format. If nothing else they will want to try a BOGO sale on HD DVD to test the water on the other side. All this is was just another wishful thinking blurt by someone who thinks he knows what a rival company is going to do. Warner would drop any employee in a heart beat if they let out this kind of information. If they decide to join one side or the other only a handfull will know and none of them will say squat until an official press release hits the streets.

Should hope not too
I feel sorry for Blu-ray fans if it doesn't come true now.

I don't see how either side can win without Warner right now.

Without Warner being exclusive to their format? Is that what you mean?
BTW, I don't know if this has been mentioned before in this thread but Hollywood Insider "Penton-Man" confirmed that Warner going BD exclusive is "indeed the rumor going around town" and also makes a hint at Universal going neutral or BD exclusive in one of his typical riddles, so I'm eagerly awaiting CES now. |

HD DVD can't win with Warner and no defections from Blu-ray exclusive studios, that would be a dead heat. With Warner exclusivity for Blu-ray, it will be all over for HD DVD but the crying and if I know this group, there will be a lot of crying here.
This rumor is picking up steam online, but it is still nothing more that a rumor and not worth any further discussion without something to move it from rumor to fact. It might just put a halt to any significant hardware sales for HD DVD until confirmed or denied. Chris |

If we don't hear anything from them today or Monday, I'm just going to assume the rumor is true....

Does anyone find it rather bizzare that AVS has no mention of this anywhere on their site? I went there to see if I could find any discussion there to see if any news from any insiders there, and nothing (unless I missed it tucked in some obscure thread somewhere discussing the current HD situation in Mongolia). That place gets stranger and stranger every day.

Ha, ya, assume anything you want, but unfortunately that wouldn't be good enough for me. This awful format war has lasted longer than I had thought possible when Toshiba showed up to fight with a popgun and only one cork. Chris |

The same can be said if WB went HD DVD.. Sony, Fox and Disney would stay where they are (Sony 100% for sure) so, no end to the war.
