Default Paramount states all remaining blu-ray discs will be destroyed!

spartanjohnson posted this at highdefdigest:

Paramount sent out a notice to distributors today stating that effective 11/28 all the remaining Blu-Ray discs they have in their warehouses will be destroyed, no new shipments will be sent to distributors or retailers now. Originally Paramount said they would keep shipping Blu-Rays until the warehouses were empty of titles, apparently they couldn't keep waiting to get rid of the discs and decided to trash them instead.

Thanks to Movieminded for the 411.

What a waste! What do the mean destroy? Just smash them all up and burn them? Maybe recycle? Couldn't they find something else to do with them besides destroy them like give em away or something?

I am sure they will recycle the plastics for use in other products. However, as for the reason why they would do this? They probably want to clear up space. . . No use having a bunch of BDs laying around if you don't plan to market/sell them.

Could be part of their contractual obligation with the HD DVD PG. - 3 months to sell what you can then destroy the rest.

They were selling to slow and it wasn't worth the money to keep paying to have them wherehoused is my guess.

Sorry, I like both formats - but I just laugh every time I see this used in an argument!

Oh - BD fans - don't be concerned that the Paramount BD movies will be collectors items . . .
