Prince, can you take a wild guess as to how long before HD-DVD completely sinks? If you are right, and I hope you are because I want this stupid war to end, than it wont take long for it to happen. If HD-DVD lost its momentum and never regained it and never will, as you say, than the end is truly in sight. Of course if you are wrong you will look like the biggest fool. I hope you are right for your sake.

What sort of illogic is this? Once you buy something that is it, the sale or creation of other products has no bearing in this case on the performance of one already purchased.

Why do Blu-Ray fanboyus constantly try to live in the future with this unfinished poorly planned out format. With your illogic it is more clear that all Blu-ray players suck and are obsolete since none of them can do what profile 2.0 calls for. It really doesn't matter how much BD 2.0 players get released in 2009, since that cannot change the current poor state of Blu hardware. This guys Onkyo will happily continue to do PiP and connect to the internet which is certainly better than any Blu player.

You need to be mindful of the present young padawan.

Me 2 cents worth - me last 2 trips to WalMart & Target blew me away with the amount of BD discs available vs HD DVD. Me be a supporter of both formats - bought me an A2 just because it was $98 bucks. But me also has a BD burner (which is king in me home) and doubles as a player. So me eye is kept on both aisles of discs available. Yesterday evening, we made a trip to Walmart and what we found was 48 titles of BD (8 rows, six deep) and 12 titles of HD DVD (2 rows, 6 deep). Me lass was the one that mentioned that the BD list has grown and the HD DVD list shrank from her last visit - a week earlier. Simply put, here me be, in a store of the largest retailer, watching HD DVD shrink and BD bulk up for the big selling season of the year!!! Where are the titles? Why is Walmart not stocking HD DVD's?

Yeah, we have lots of money to advertise, since we didn't waste it all on a one time bribe to a Studio. We even have money to run BOGO's every other week, keeping our consumers happy with half price movies, too. Who needs to pay $34.99 for a combo disk, when we can have one for $14.99? So much for consumer friendly HD DED!

What's really sad is that $14.99 is half price, and not normal price.

Let's see, Sony lost $2 Billion on PS3/BD last year. I can't wait to see their new numbers.

Do you really think the other BD manufacturers are making money at this with Sony undercutting them?

Do you really think the BD studios are making money at this with the low sales overall and giveaways?

Right.

Nielsen VideoScan numbers are NOT a total of ALL retailers who report to them on those weekly sales ratios. They are simply samples like in a poll, but the BD studios have been targeting those sample sources with BD movie sales. A case of smoke & mirrors marketing which they are famous for.

Why don't they publicize or have disclaimers on all the Profile 1.0 players? They are doing EVERYTHING they can to NOT let the public know about the multiple profiles for BD players so their dream of double/triple dipping on hardware can come true. How can ANY consumer be happy, never mind BACK such an organization for doing this shameful practice?

Please explain to me WHY YOU seem to back the BD format and use many of the arguments that would benefit these CE companies to consumers (including yours) detriment?

No BD fans seem to want to discuss this. Why?

Not Toshiba or Paramount or Universal!
Believe me, Blu-ray is NOT looking after your interests by having BOGOs. They are doing it only for their own interests. They obviously can't price compete with HD DVD on the player front (and won't be able for quite some time), so disc sales is the only thing left to turn to. HD DVD can have disc sales any time they please, but they haven't had many because they would rather not give away discs just to pad the Nielsons (that's Sony's baby anyway). Besides, studios are much happier when they make a profit off their product. WB must be disgusted that they have to do BOGOs on their Blu-ray stock in order to get their share of sales.

It's funny how the link at the start of this topic doesn't even work and doesn't even look like a real url on the web. I hope the poster was only trying to be funny and not misleading. How to end the format war...Toshiba drops hd-dvd and joins the other consumer electronics players and introduces blu-ray players....Samsung, Pioneer, Panasonic, Mitsubishi, Sony, Daewoo, Funai, Sharp, Loewe, Philips....you get the idea...For a few years, combo players can exist to support hd-dvd while it is phased out. This would really kickstart the move from dvd to hi def movies at home. The loser would be Microsoft(R) who would not get to control yet another segment of consumer electronics. Microsoft(R) did state it would support blu-ray should it be widely adopted, so I guess even they wouldn't lose in a sense...LOL... End the war Toshiba, you will be respected for doing so....

End the war Sony, you will be respected for doing so.

Seriously, this thread *was* about Paramount not shipping out futher Blu-ray warehouse stock to retailers and thus it's supply would be liquidated or discarded (destroyed). It wasn't about how to end the format war...but thanks for contributing.

Sony will end the format war. They'll just bleed the stuck pig, HD DVD, and bleed them until they become someone's lunch!
