Maybe there was something in the contract that stated they would not release anymore of the current releases while the contract was in effect... So that way, when the contract is up, if they do go neutral again, BD would only get movies from that point forward and no previous releases?
Would make sense wouldn't it. Maybe they don't plan on going neutral again? Maybe that's the message they are really sending.

By getting rid of much of their current Blu stock, they can replenish before having to destroy what their masters at Microsoft and Toshiba have ordered them to. Also funny that they would request this, considering that they said it wasn't a bribe and it was all about attach rates. Why would they destroy an asset, if this were indeed true? Just more Paramount hypocracy!
Sounds like the boycott backfired.

Wow,,,we be in a slow week for HD news if this is all we can muster. Okay, let me help you folks out a bit. Lets suppose Paramount was holding, hell, maybe 2,000,000 BD's in storage. If the BD's were spindled, this means 600 per box, 9 boxes per layer at 5 layers per pallet = 27,000 BD's per pallet. At 2,000,000 BD's, this equals out to about 74 pallets. Double stacked, 37 pallet spaces. Or roughly 2 shipping lanes in a standard shipping & receiving department,,,,no big deal. On the other hand, if the BD's were packaged and ready for retail - you get 50 pcs. per box at 12 boxes per layer and you can go 10 layers high (less weight) or 6000 pcs. per pallet. This equals out to 333 pallets, or basically about 170 pallet spaces for the BD's double stacked. A small gymnasium would hold them all. If they are packaged and ready for retail, Paramount is spending more money to disassemble and chip than they are to store them for a couple of years.

Damn, i think i`ll buy a few more HD DVDs now, because whoever was responsible for these incentives, did a very nice thing with upsetting all the BD supporters who are STILL taking this (friggin') business deal soooooo seriously and personally.

antichrst. servatude. dictators. surfs. devil. soul.

That´s really funny!

Jeez, i love the format war just for its entertaining value.

Maybe Paramount is a little embarrased to see that the discontinued BD versions still outsell the HD versions.

BTW, I only have one Paramount title in my collection. Don't miss 'em at all. But it does sound like they are doing a great job at HD. How does that Jack Ryan collection look on HD?

Spot on!! And to include,,,ask our good HD DVD gents what their local WalMarts & Targets seem to be stocking this fine holiday season!!! As a dual format supporter - me finds a lot more BD on the shelves than HD DVD. As a sidenote - me local Target was sold out of BD writables this past weekend, due to enhanced sales!!! Price was not reduced, but demand seems to be rising!!!

You really believe that? Take a look at the sales numbers per title.

Transformers sold more discs then ALL the BD titles added together.

That put it in perspective?

Well duh. It was an HD only release. BD owners couldn't buy what wasn't available. Imagine if Paramount released that title on both. The sales would have been pretty substantial, much better than that terrible movie 300.

And using the same analogy, it just proves that Paramount released pretty crappy titles before Transformers. Even with crappy titles, blu still outsold HD. Skim through your HD DVD Official Toshiba Fud Spreading Manual to find more points to throw out Lee. But you probably know it by heart.

Ummm,,,where is it said in all of your pretty pictures that Transformers sold a x amount of HD DVD's? Your pretty pictures make no mention of Transformers. If you wish to use bandwidth please put some content with it. The pretty pictures you put up,,,,,,,mentioned nothing about Transformers. Please post with relevance.

I believe it's called "grasping for straws" but in the official HD Fud Spreading Manual it falls under the "Dazzle them with Bullshit Figures" chapter. But Lee is fully aware of this, but does his best to spread bullshit whenever the opportunity arises.
