I will gladly pay the shipping if they would just mail them to my house.

Does anybody know if Paramount actually did this? They must have had a million or more discs that they should just put back on the market now, although I don't think the retailers ever actually returned them all. Just shipping the old Paramount Blu-ray software to Amazon for BOGO would likely get them a few million dollars.

Why would they have nearly 50% of Blu-ray sales to date sat in a warehouse? You seriously think that higher volume of discs were initially manufactured for many titles which hadn't sold more than 30,000 per title (before Transformers on HD DVD).

What? Are you you kidding? Of course Paramount has over a million unsold Blu-ray software units, if they haven't been destroyed. I don't know where they are, but assume they manufactured on average 40,000 for each title and sold about 10,000 average each title, they would have about 2,000,000 somewhere. The unsold HD DVD software is likely a much larger quantity so look for some really good deals there.

U think there will be several million discs for so few titles? They will have been bloody stupid to make 40,000 units if they were selling 10,000 on average, you do a run as close to the figure you expect to sell as possible, that is simple business practice. Don't forget the discs continue to sell, they'd only really press what the retailers had ordered from them, with a small surplus incase extra units are required. They certainly wouldn't (if they had any sense) stockpile millions of discs in a warehouse.

exactly, stores like wallmart will buy discs in batches of a few thousand and then distribute them amongst their stores so the discs can still be pressed to order or at least with a good projection of what orders are likely to be.

I don't believe they expected the sales to be so poor, there would be no interest in a release that sold only 10,000 since that can't be profitable. The fact is the releases sold poorly and the manufactured quantity was far greater than sold quantity, that is nothing unusual as lost sales by not having adequate quantity is a far greater mistake than manufacturing too great a quantity. If you read my post, I didn't say several million, I said over a million, you said several million.

All of Paramount's Blu-Ray discs are right there on the left, next to the Ark of the Covenant.

Not nice at all. But then again it's good old Chris Gerhard with his baseless information. Paramount destroyed all the Blu-Ray discs just as the article stated, and good for them, they won't be needing them anytime in the foreseeable future
