Universal to Close Out 2007 with 'Timecop' HD DVD

Van Damme fans rejoice! Universal says it will bring the sci-fi thriller 'Timecop' to HD DVD in late December.

The 1994 Jean-Claude Van Damme thriller was the actor's highest-grossing hit, breaking the $100,000,000 barrier for worldwide gross.

Universal is not exactly pulling out all the stops for 'Timecop,' however. Like the bare bones standard-def DVD version that preceded it, the HD DVD will include a theatrical trailer as the lone bonus feature.

Tech specs feature a HD-15 single-layer disc with 1080p/VC-1 audio and Dolby Digital-Plus 5.1 Surround tracks (1.5mbps) in both English and French.

Retail for the HD DVD is $29.98.

You'll find disc details for 'Timecop' linked from our HD DVD Release Schedule, where it is indexed under December 26.

We've also set up a dedicated thread for Universal's latest in our Forums area -- click the following link to discuss the 'Timecop' HD DVD release.

Timecop (HD DVD)
Should be a good movie, but I am sure they have more coming for Q4 2007 unless they have Twin Discs in 2008.

For that matter, where is the American Pie trilogy?

An excellent comedy trilogy that is just waiting to be released. . .

American Pie Special Edition was on the "secret" Digital Bits release schedule for HD DVD, American Pie 2 was as well. They'd be instant purchases for me if they became reality.

BTTF is also amazing. That should sell a lot of HD DVD's.

They may be holding American Pie and BTTF for early 08 release to jumpstart the sales cycle for all the new HD DVD player owners opening their new players x mas day. Those would be some huge releases after the christmas season for everyone especially the new owners.

Title misleading. Uni will announce more HD DVD movies for 2007 release. It just so happens that this one will get released at the EOY so it makes it seem to some that later announcements will get released after, but it's not necessarily true.

U agree Bruce. It is VERY misleading. Just reading the title I would have gotten the impression that they were not going to release any more titles this year.

I ain't even seen Timecop so I couldn't tell you. It's just more fun to say that to a thread full of BTTF fans

And yeah, I agree regarding dates, I mean Zodiac was already confirmed for 2008 by Paramount but they are still announcing titles for release in November.
