Default is Blu Ray STILL really leading 2:1 ??

I still see quite a few articles on the net still referencing Blu Ray sales over HD DVD disc sales by a 2 to 1 margin.

This seems really hard to believe. Toshiba HD DVD seems to always be in the #1 spot on amazon. We have had P/DM studios go HD exclusive. I'm sure Blu Ray sales are still in the lead but does Blu Ray really sell 2:1 or basically 100% more than HD DVD ???

yeah it was 2:1 earlier in the year, but has since stablized back to 1.5:1 as HD DVD has gained momentum in recent months.

From what I've read for disc sales, its about 1.5 Blu-Ray vs. 1 HD DVD. In "Stand Alone" player sales, its about 10 HD DVD vs. 1 Blu-Ray for North America.

For Canadian Best Buys & Future Shops, HD DVD stand alone players are outselling BD stand alone by a factor of more then 50:1 in just this month alone. More then 80% of all Future Shops in Canada completely sold out of the HD-A2 player thanks to the Door Crasher Sale they had a week ago or so.

I'm not convinced it's as high as that, but I'd have to say, recently since Sony made their outselling HD DVD stand alones claim, HD DVD has gained an incredible amount of ground.

Maybe 50:1 sounds too high, but everywhere I go, HD DVD is sold out completely. I've asked a guy that works at one of the Future Shops in Toronto, and he told me they have a long list of backordered HD DVD's that people have put deposits down for.

Oh, Sony is full of shit, that is the problem with them, they cannot face the facts.

I read that and then I read PFC5's post about how Sony came to the conclusion they were outselling HD DVD SAL players and it was based on revenue not on sales volume. That is an easy thing to say when your players are priced 3-700 more than the competition IMHO.

The bd association are using any data they can get their hands on so they can say we are selling more than you etc even though it is not true.

Typical the Blu-Ray association would try anything to make themselves look better. Just more consumer manipulation IMO.

I also think BD outselling HD DVD in movies is FUD, and here is why: I’ve read somewhere (But I cannot find that article?) Blu-Ray goes by the number of discs that are shipped to retail “NOT SOLD”, where as HD DVD goes by the discs that are actually sold to consumers by retailers.

So this 1.6 million BD discs sold vs. 800,000 thousand HD DVD sold is complete FUD IMO. I don’t trust video scan numbers.

Sony is full of shit. They lie about everything. I know one person with a Blu Ray player and four people with a HD DVD player.

All signs suggest Sony weren't actually lying about stand alone sales at the time they made their report. Even toshiba conceeded it's possible Blu Ray outsold HD DVD for a month or 2.

Neither camp has any control over the Nielsen numbers because they are published in the form of % pie charts.

The players is a totally different story.
