The legality of the issue is that the PS3 will probably be able to be FW UP to both a 1.1 and 2.0 player. As 90+% of the BD players are PS3's this is how they skirt around the legal issue.

The fact that no SAL can do either profile yet - that is another whole ball game. And as a fact - we have yet to see the announcement of a true 1.1 enabled movie. All IME BD movies so far announced for this year are nothing more than BD-J movies with fake PIP added to them.

I would like them to issue a timetable like document so we can know roughly when we will get the improved speeds. A timetable like the switch to digital, my area is the last to go digital LOL 2012.

In 8 years he turned us back into the strong military we had to end the Cold War. I have a client that was a Colonel in the Air Force and he told me that under Carter they were pulling parts off of other fighters/helicopters to replace parts in the birds that could still fly because of Carter.

Carter is probably the worst president in modern times and i venture to say that possible the worst this country ever saw.
You are correct, and I was working the consulate in Berlin (in Berlin the Army guarded the consulate not the Marine Corp, the city was occupied from WWII) when President Carter came there and he acted like a real jerk, where President Ford was very friendly and nice to everyone.

The prices for everything basically doubled during Carter's term (he was horrible) although he has been a good retired President.

Come on. This is the second thread to go totally off topic. Start a thread in the No Topic Forum if you want.

How could you possibly think this when he goes around the world slamming the USA for everything? Heck, he even said that Venezuela's elections went more "fairly" under the dictator Chavez, than our own elections went just because Commie Carter didn't like the results.

Carter is a JOKE!!! He is the FIRST retired president to publicly (worldwide too) criticize a sitting president. One of the reasons it was never done before is because any former president knows that what is public knowledge is not what presidential decisions are based on. There is more data that could NEVER be revealed. He is hurting this country every time he opens his big mouth.

Maybe Sony will put him in charge of the BDA and the format war will be over in a matter of weeks with BD dying a horrible death.

To get back on topic, I agree with these sentiments completely PFC. The decision for me to go HD DVD exclusive wasn't solely because of no interactivity. It was that fact, coupled with the idea that they were trying to pull a fast one on me. Thanks for the 10th time for telling me about this issue to begin with though, as I most likely wouldn't have come to the realization until it was too late to return that player if you hadn't.

There is no question that in my position, I would have definitely regretted my Blu-ray purchase if I had come to find this all out after it was too late. For me, special feature are very important. I am the type of consumer who get upset or disappointed in lack of extra content. I watch all the special features, and listen to all the commentaries on almost every title I've ever owned, SD DVD or otherwise.

It is my hope that "everyone" buying a past and current BD player realized this. From my perspective, Sony is still setting potential consumers up for disappointment in this regard. To be fair, I'm certain that in the manuals for both Blu-ray and HD DVD it clearly states that the player you have purchased "may not" be compatable with future discs.

It is good to hear that you are happy & appreciate that I was outspoken about the Profile issues back then. I was taking heat from BD fans here because I kept discussing the BD profile issue and I had even considered not continuing because I was being led to believe that I was being unfair, and some even said I was promoting FUD back then.

I am glad that the news media is FINALLY discussing this very important issue with the profiles and your comments make me glad that I didn't give in to letting the BD profile issue drop.

So thank you for backing up my reasons for continuing to discuss the BD profiles issue back then.

Telling the truth is not FUD, though some of the bloo persuasion like to say it is FUD if you mention anything negative about BD (not mentioning names but one guy got his nickname for whining at you for that very reason).

People need to be made aware when deciding on a Hi Def player purchase. HD DVD surely should expect a comfortable lead in that department due to BD’s lack of the ver. 1.0

I think you meant BD's lack of version 1.1 yet.

We knew what you meant.

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that they are advertising these features for Blu-Ray, not specific Blu-Ray players? To say the Players had the features would be a lie.

And you think consumers see a difference?

Consumers do not separate the format from the players. As a matter of fact both the format AND the players are unable to do these features. You can say they CAN put those features on a BD movie disc, but there is nothing that can player them yet and any AVAILABLE current BD player purchased cannot.

How could this be anything but deception? I bet most people would think this way about it. Remember, most people have not been following this war like we have. They are clueless that BD does not have completed specs and that the current and all announced BD players (except the $2,000.00 Denon BD layer), CANNOT play them. Even the BD insiders are saying that these players cannot be updated to play them AT ALL in the future.

Also add that Denon is saying it is possible that future BD movies utilizing 1.1/2.0 specs MIGHT not play or lock up ALL current 1.0 players too.

One of the blue brethern is saying that Fox is not going to use BD+ until next year. Wonder how they feel about releasing the Die Hard series without it?

Any bets that National Treasure will actually be the first BD 1.1 title released . . Q2 2008?

I have a feeling that they are having problems getting the existing players to work properly with BD+, but I am just guessing judging by how everything else seems to be going with the profiles having issues too.
