I'm getting a general sense of the movie watching habits of the balls-to-the wall HD crowd here:

...and why is everyone so ga-ga for Transformers anyway?
Everyone isn't GA-GA over it. You haven't seen me drooling over it. I have it on pre-order though

Hmm, why would people find high action movies great on HD? Hmmm.. I wonder. One of the movies I highly recommend on HD DVD isn't a big action thriller. The World's Fastest Indian is a superb movie.

Boy, I agree with that, it might be one of his best pictures (he even states he believes it could be his finest role).

Indeed! It had great cinematography, wonderful acting, and a bit of action and yet over looked by so many.

I didn't think the main lead was that chesty tbh, just had a damn nice body worth $39.95 for that in HD tbh

As a long time Transformers fan, I expected it to be a hell of alot worse than it was especially with Bay at the helm. It was certainly better than most movies this year (Pirates, Simpsons, Spiderman 3 and Ratatouille included).

Transformers had some nice jugs?

Things to do this week:
1. Buy a HD-DVD Player
2. Pre Order Transformers

heheh, fair enough. sure, I understand that the point of HD is to improve visuals. For me though, (yeah...I'm one of those Fellini, Bergman, Antonioni blah blah types) the substance always trumps the image. If it throws schlock at me hidden by a pretty picture and/or ridiculous action, I just don't give a flip and couldn't imagine owning it.

I also enjoy a lot of crappy movies--ones that recognize this in themselves, at least (Dumb & Dumber is one of my all time favs, I still consider True Lies a great action flick, etc.). I don't waste cash on those movies, however...
