Of course noone would believe you. It would take a lot for something like this to happen. There are far more blu-ray players in the market - it makes perfect sense for blu-ray to outsell HD DVD. 2:1 doesn't need a link as its a very minimal margin considering the gap in players.

I know they're out of stock it has been released though. Found another one on the near horizon too. And yes, if the discs have been region encoded, they will NOT work on a USA Blu Ray player.

U-571 Blu Ray

There are quite a few US titles that are neutral releases that are Blu Ray exclusive over here too. Happens both ways around though, The Prestige came out here on HD DVD despite being BD exclusive in the US.

Starship Troopers on BD - region 2

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product//...rd_i=293962011

One is going to have to be careful on this region thing. If it doesn't list a region you can't assume it is all region though many are.

But Ghost Rider is an all region release:

HD DVD still have more world wide exlusive support then Blu-Ray. But the real winner is the winner of North America.

Brotherhood of the Wolf (UK Import) (HD DVD) - This movie is awesome!!!!!!

Warner Releases for HD DVD.

Don Bluth.com lets FOX HD DVD possibility slip?
http://www.lyris-lite.net/2007/03/do..._hd_dvd_p.html

This Christmas holiday season will be the deciding factor IMO. Many stores favor HD DVD due to sales & many favor Blu-Ray due to sales.

Try looking at a Blu-Ray movie up close @ 1080p & the same with a HD DVD @ 1080p. The Blu-Ray picture feed looks like crap for some reason, on a 42" Sony Bravia LCD. The HD DVD looks so much more crisp on a 42" LG LCD. Oh, Best Buy was the store I seen this.

It probably just the cables which they are using for the video input. Either that or the LG tv has a better spec than the sony equivalent.

Well, maybe so but other people I spoke to tell me that several (Not All) Blu-Ray movies lack picture quality. You can see imperfections on objects & people from the video feed or something in the movies when playing them in HDMI 1080p & 720p. HD DVD does not have this problem, HD DVD is an already proven technology.

Blu Rays image quality is generally identical, and has the potential to be superior to HD DVDs, with the exception of early rushed Blu Ray titles, pretty much all Blu Ray titles now have a perfectly acceptable picture quality.

Superior?

First, we have no evidence to support that on 99% of the TV's in the market that any blu-ray improvement will even be noticable. Second, I think it will hardly be superior.

I think HD is superior to SD, but Blu-ray and HD DVD are both very equal.

This may play a role in the Blu-Ray quality.

Quote:
(Note: As originally reported by The Digital Bits, some users have experienced poor image quality when viewing Blu-ray discs on the Samsung first-generation BD-P1000 Blu-ray disc player when connected via the deck's HDMI output. Apparently these problems, including decreased resolution and diluted color reproduction, are largely corrected when switching to the BD-P1000's component outputs.

This is third Blu-ray title I've reviewed so far, and it comes after the mixed results I had encountered previously with the disappointing 'The Fifth Element,' and the better if inconsistent '50 First Dates.' Unfortunately, the disc I hoped would be my first knockout now leaves me batting zero for three. While 'xXx' does look pretty good on Blu-ray, it still suffers from some noticeable image quality problems that, quite frankly, I just didn't expect from a format that has been has highly touted as this one.

Yes, I understand. And a few were Sony titles. But MI3 also had picture problems on Blu-Ray when using HDMI @ 1080p res.

Don't take that too literally mate (I am a HD DVD supporter over Blu Ray, I'm just realistic), had Casino Royale been released in Q2 instead of Q1, there would have actually been an 18% growth in Q2 over Q1. If 1 title is all it takes to completely alter things like that, you can't read too much into it.

Lets see what growth is like (it's gonna be how much BD grows not if) when the Q4 big hitters come out.
