Man what a bunch of wankers.
There's a few decent posters there but man that place is wankerville. It's like invasion of Blu Bodysnatchers. I'm glad this place is a little less dogmatic. The weirdest thing about this battle is the level of intolerance for other peoples opinions. Discussion boards are about discussions and typically not everyone feels the same way about subjects. However over at wankerville it seems that there's a Borg like mentality where you're praised for showing blind loyalty and an incredulous amount of ignorance. Not only do I like HD DVD but I prefer to be amongst the company of many of you who are either HD DVD only or neutral with no axe to grind. I figured I'd give it a try and see if one could survive there by not promoting HD DVD per se but rather trying to provide the most fair info as possible. It seems that wasn't enough. I was told that anything that wasn't tantamount to saying "Blu-ray is God and all that is righteous in my world" ad naseum was sacrosanct to their assimilation strategy. I haven't felt such pressure to "dumb myself down to fit in" since Junior High. This battle is about so much more. It's about looking at others and seeing how different they are. It's about finding the point in yourself where you either check out or check in. Many of us have strong resolve regardless of what we've chosen. I don't think the idea is to change ones opinion or convert them but rather to understand where this person is coming from. The truth is I love the discourse on sites like HDF and this does not cease when people disagree with my opinions. It's easy to turn a site into a bully pulpit but that helps no one. So whether you're a Blu-ray fan or a HD DVD fan the common denominator we have is movies and rarely will you find an hmurchison post in which I call your chosen format a dead format. Such invective is not helpful. Happy HD viewing to all.

Sorry to hear that, murch. I only have about 30 posts over there but I've been lucky so far. HD DVD supporters posting over there is about as delicate as handling nitro on a hot afternoon.
You're sure welcome here anytime.

Ahhh I figured I'd give it a try but I kept getting ambushed.
I like that here you can discuss the platforms with people who don't necessarily agree with you without the need for excessive moderation. I must say my HD DVD player is flawless. I just watched Children of Men which is a problematic disc or some and it played without trouble. In fact I don't think I've had one glitch whatsoever. I'm totally thrilled with my purchase and the fun part is knowing that I have a nice Sharp HDTV but that in a few years I can only imagine what all my discs will look like getting fed through technology in 2010. That's an encouraging thought indeed.

I once posted on a political forum and got banned without a warning and it was permanent.
Some nice people out there huh? I'll be neutral when I end up getting a ps3....whenever that is. But I'm loving the hddvd-ness right now. I'm so sick of the narrowmindedness on the internet forums. You can get so much great info but you have to go through a lot of bs to get there most of the time. |

The beauty of this forum is that it is essentially self-moderated by its own members...and it works. No swat teams of mods hovering overhead here.
Not to say they won't step in but really I've only seen a mod post mod stuff in these HD DVD/Blu-ray rooms about twice that I remember.

It is still hard for me to understand the political zeal that seems to invade something so innocuous as a disc format. I have both formats. If one wins a "war" then I guess I'll use the other one to play cd's on my stereo system. If Blu-Ray is the winner, then at least I didn't pay much for the HD-DVD player since I bought a remanufactured one.
Don't feel bad about being banned. I was banned from one forum for asking a question to which I should have known the answer. How's that for logical?. It was my first post. I was banned from another forum before I registered or posted anything. The company, not friendly to my company, assumed I would post negative things about them. I guess they will never know. Forums like that aren't worth getting involved in. You haven't lost anything valuable. |

FWIW, even Amir got banned at the site just a few weeks ago and some members there thought it was uncalled for. I hear bans there a quite a common occurance in order to make sure that the forum stays true Blu.

Try www.agoraquest.com also. Lots of windbags that think the techies on their forum will be enough to decide a winner. They have that Sony arrogance,"... how can there be anything else in my life?"
There are some HD DVD owners that are either ignored or blasted if they post too much against the 'other side'. They've drunk the Kool-Aid for the most part. They will not ban anybody, and you can go back and edit your post until the cows go home. Supposedly an open site to support Sony products. Can not fault it for that.

Perhaps you should go on a Yankees website an extol the virtues of the Red Sox? Go to a Mustang website and explain how Camaro's are better. Barney is better than Teletubbies?
In other words, are you serious? |

Not only does he post there, he has thousands of posts!
I've been banned from highdefforum 3 times, avs once, and a few others, but what the hell...... posting on a website for a format you don't even support? You're asking for trouble. |

I was even told my logic made no sense and that a player that was built primarily to play movies was no different than a game console that could play a variety of media. Huh? GLOW you are not half as bad as some of the yokels there. We all deserve a banning here and there for fighting the hegemony. I know the feeling though....I sat too much in silence when certain HD DVD fanatics were spewing incorrect info. In a way you give people a pass because you don't want to cause dissension within the ranks. That's how B-R.com is. There are some bright people that must stay quite ..even when their own village idiots are running amuck.

I guess it's OK if you were expecting to get banned, I was a little worried that you didn't see it coming!
