Madden 08 and NCAA 2008 running at double the frame rate on the 360.

Sadly there is quite a lot of momentum out of the PS3 camp right now, but very little going towards. I was planning to pick up a PS3 this winter, but with most the titles I wanted either going multi format to a console I already own, or being delayed until April 08 at the earliest, I'm now no longer seeing much reason to buy one

Hopefully titles like Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, Folklore, Home, Little Big Planet, Ratchet and Clank and the likes will match their hype and get a few must have titles out onto the console before Christmas as I honestly think if Sony don't start getting some console selling releases onto the system soon, next financial year may be too late, even if there is a price drop. On the otherhand, that newly announced Quantic Dream title that Sony are publishing sounds awesome. It's not all doom and gloom, just Sony are relying heavily on unknown quantities to shift their console in a market that traditionally don't like to buy something unless it has a number or year after the title.

Okay, back to the proper topic
Thanks for the update Mike!

I am not a gamer, but this explains why my son has not been talking about buying more games for the PS3. I think he knows what I went through to get it for him and doesn't want me to feel bad about it.

I certainly hope the PS3 can get their act together on the GAMING end of it because THAT was the main purpose of buying it for him.

Looks like Sony may get a bit of a stuffing this Xmas too. How ever much I think Heavanly Sword is beautiful game runs nice and smooth its too short and just misses the mark, though have not yet played war hawk the word is it is a very good game but thats about it as far as exclusives before xmas goes, though they will see a PS3 exclusive of UT3 for a few months. It wont be till at least march till we see the bigger Ps3 titles when fingers crossed we will have MGs4 FF13 and GT5.

Microsoft on the other hand release its big hitters this Xmas with the already released Bioshock, Halo 3 and with PGR4 and Mass Effect heading their Xmas charge its looking very rosey for MS.

Nintendo well what can you say about the Wii its small its fun and it will sell tons this xmas with minimal software support

360 will be top this Christmas, claims Microsoft
Wednesday, September 12 2007, 09:36 BST
By David Gibbon, Gaming Reporter

Quote:
UK Xbox 360 marketing manager Dan Cornelius claims the Microsoft console is in a better position than the competition in the run up to this year's crucial Christmas season.

"With the launch of Elite and these price drops, the delta between Xbox 360 and PS3 in terms of value for money gets broader," Cornelius told MCV.

"It certainly puts us in a better position than our competitors going into the Christmas market.

"We now have a very powerful, high definition console at the same price point as Wii. That will really open the door to a broad audience going into Christmas."

The UK chief also believes the price difference between the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 highlights that Microsoft is not forcing consumers to "foot a huge bill for technology they don't need", referring to Sony's PS3 Blu-ray player.

------------------
I think Sony should stop pushing the PS3 as a BD player and start treating the system like a gaming machine, just as they did with the successful PS2.

Right now, the PS3 is really hurting on the gaming front with several delays going right into Q1 & Q2 2008, they are going to get clobbered by the XBOX 360 this X-Mass season IMO.

Just like Blockbuster, stupid decisions should not rewarded.

If they get clobbered big time you can call it the price of being arrogant and presumptuous.

But they don't have Wii Sports, Cooking Mama, My Sims or anything like that, so they still won't beat the Wii because the audiences lapping up the Wii couldn't give a toss about HD visuals or spectacular visual effects in games where you shoot the living daylights out of everything that movies on control schemes using 16 buttons...

The 360 will do well this Xmas, but the Wii will be in another league.

Can, Will, Already have for nearly a year but when will you see it?

Edit- wake me up if hd dvd gets back to 50/50 sales regardless of attach rates or stand alones or whatever.

Winning is not won. Having a huge lead and watching it erode, albiet slowly is not won. How do you explain the 2+million PS3's out there but lucky to sell much over 100k of any one movie? I am waiting for your big explanation on this one..

The way things go.. the longer you let a foe stick around once you have hit them, the more they will continue to hit back The PS3 had a chance for a knockout, but regardless of your spin, it didn't happen and the Toshiba's continue to sell, sell sell.

So you define winning as losing the most money?

I presume you realize that HD DVD doesn't need to hit 50/50 to be successful, all they need to do is make money.

The problem for both formats is that 100% of sales right now amounts to nearly nothing as far as a consumer market...

But BD has s-o-o-o-o much more money to recoup than HD DVD, it's easy to see how HD DVD can be profitable long before BD.

The 360 IS the winner of both other systems out there. Yes the Wii (silly name) did better last christmas because it was the cheapest (and the most childish of the three) but with Halo 3 just out, reported to be the best 360 game to date, and the lower price tag -- well-- Wii, prepare to eat some dust.

HD DVD with 70% of stand alones. Can Sony win? No, because HD DVD stand alone players are still outselling BD stand alone players by a very large margin. I would say something in the lines of 20:1

Despite Sony's desperate claim of a 4:1 winning victory. Well, adding the PS3 to their sales is desperate.

HD DVD beating Blu-Ray once again
HD DVD after Sony's desperate 4:1 false claim.

I highly doubt it I'm afraid. IF you believe this, you're gonna more than likely be eating some serious "crow" come january.

Good to see that Toshiba spins as much as BDA!

Wake up guys - HDDVD is not winning. I don't think it is losing either btw - they will both stick around for a while.

Seriously, if HDDVD has such a large base compared to BDA, why is BD consistently outselling them on Software. How can anyone seriously say that the format that sells the more movies is losing?

That said, BDA needs to get more SAL's out there too (by lowering prices)

Well... Nintendo are flying "emergency Christmas stock" into the UK now the situation is that desperate for Wii hardware. It's actually worse than last year when it launched. Retailers that get them in stock are easily shifting it all at £399 ($800) with 4 games (that is above RRP).

As for the US... Halo 3 came... Halo 3 went.... Wii still remained in top spot for the Month

How do you like your crow nitetech? Microsoft are putting up a solid lineup but I can't see them coming close to the success the Wii is seeing right now, and that is despite Wii stock shortages. DS Lites have started to sell out again over here too (and Nintendo did miserably here with the Gamecube so this has completely surprised me).
