Default HD DVD touts 2007 spring lineup

To quote High-Def Digest:

"With the continued support of six major studios, the HD DVD Promotions Group has issued a new press release touting the format's summer 2007 release schedule, including a peek at more upcoming titles.

Led by HD DVD-exclusive backer Universal Studios Home Entertainment, over 70 HD DVD titles are now due for release throughout the first half of 2007."

Some of the titles listed we knew about; others, like The Bourne Identity, are now "official."

I have always been looking forward to Smokin' Aces, but now The Bourne Identity shoots to the top of my list. Santana live also sounds great.

I'm not impressed, but I do see myself buying roughly 8-10 of those. I just can't wait to see what gets announced for the 2nd half of this year. I really hope Warner gets around to announcing Harry Potter as I don't want to wait till they get THD or the BDJ working to release that movie on HD-DVD.

Nice, but like others have said, we need a little more emphasis on quality so I hope they sprinkle in some surprise nuggets during the rest of the first half of this year, and then give us the Real Deal during the second half. I know Blu-ray will be there, so HD DVD needs to keep that in mind and wheel out a respectable proportion of top-tier movies.

I know that HD-DVD has one heck of a presence over in Europe, but I just can't justify paying that kind of money to get those movies over here. That's almost the price of 2 HD-DVD movies after you get done with shipping on Amazon. If Warner leaves those of us here in the US from getting Harry Potter again, i'll be really pissed. Those books and movies were just as popular or more so here in the US, so why can't we get these releases announced? The hell with THD and BD-J, as I want them on HD-DVD NOW.

No . . I was not advocating buying Import HD DVD's. These titles are somewhere on a list I saw of movie releases that WB, Paramount and Universal are planning to release HERE in the USA . . this year.

WB titles like BLADE RUNNER and DIRTY HARRY - no official release date yet - just "coming in 2007"

I love how many BD supporters are always so dismissive of the HD titles, but brag about their own catalogue.

I'll give you Casino Royale, but I'll take either Bourne movie over The Marine any day of the week.
