Import HDDVD's

At another site I saw some discussion on USA people buying import HDDVD's that are not available here in the states.

They are using a site called: www.xploitedcinema.com which I understand is located in Ohio.

The disc reviews were good as far as PQ and AQ so I went to the site to see what is available.

They have 21 titles. All seem to have English even though they are released by foreign companies.

The pricing runs from $33 to $44.

The audio spec's are either DTS-HD Master Audio (5.1) or DD Plus 5.1

As HDDVD is a Region Free format these discs will play in our players.

QUESTION.........

I have a Toshiba A2 with Optical out for audio going into a Sony 7.1 DD/DTS receiver. Will these discs provide me 5.1 sound?

Ive bought Total Recall and Equillibrium(released in China as Rebellion,so thats what it says on the cover) and although it took about a week to arrive,which is odd since I live in PA and they shipped the package from OH...but whatever although the prices are crazy high...if you really want one of those flicks its worth it. Havent seen much new added to the list lately....

HD DVD is not region free. I went to amazon UK and was going to buy Harry Potter only to find out that it is only good in region 2. I was under the impression that HD DVD was region free????

All HD DVD's on Amazon UK are listed region 2.

No, it wont matter. Plenty of people have the UK version of HP already.

It does not matter what they are listed as. They probably just copied the text from the SD DVD descriptions, and I believe this IS what they did. I happen to have been one of those people who bought this movie from Amazon UK, and it plays fine in my A1. If you have a HD-DVD player I would suggest that you buy this movie from there if it interests you because it looks great and sounds incredible with DtHD.

Yea cool list bro....its really interesting that this is even happening. As you stated they will have English soundtracks so why not a NA release....Ive ordered 3 import flicks and while they play fine and all,Ive had to pay on average 35 bucks for each one....kinda hurts the pocket but I really had to have Total Recall "Im not Quaid!!"

Yeah, That list contains some Heavyweights. Will be interesting to see which ones hit the US market.
