Default Vudu To Go - Vudu video service now lets you download files

Quote:
On Thursday, Vudu announced Vudu-To-Go, "a new feature that allows customers to download purchased movies and television shows to their computers and watch them later."

Vudu has 40,000 movies for sale, and with the To-Go option, you can save them to your PC's hard drive in order to watch them on a plane or in a car, which is typically hard to do when your only option is streaming.

A few catches: First, the key word is "purchased." Though Vudu stresses that movies cost as little as $4.99, and TV shows are as little as $1.99, you won't be able to download content when using the cheapest option, renting. Second, Vudu's legendary high-def quality apparently isn't available, since the only option for most new releases on the PC is standard-definition. And finally, though the Vudu site is optimized for iPads, there is no option for you to take a Vudu movie and stick it on your iPad (or any other pad) at this time.

Would be nice to see them offer HD downloads. At the present time there really isn't any HD purchase alternatives to Blu-ray AFAIK, and the competition would be welcome, IMO.
