But you do know it gets crazy cold sometimes. Not like the lows in the 50's Lauderdale gets.

Also for fishing, it depends on what you're after... Bass are plentiful in Ute Lake, Conchas Lake (both to the east), and of course Elephant Butte to the south. But you're looking at about a 2 hour drive for those. Plentiful trout fishing can be had just an hour farther north in the Jemez. BTW, the Jemez is actually my favorite place in all of New Mexico. The Valles Caldera in the middle of the Jemez mountains is this sprawling valley of meadows. It's absolutely stunning.

Sorry. I meant regular snow storms like the NE experience.

Yes - it goes down into the 20's at night but it is also a dry cold unlike So. FL which is a very wet cold.

You'll notice the summers are actually quite mild compared to So. FL also. The highs can get into the upper 90's and low 100's, but with 10% or less humidity, so it never feels that hot unless your out for awhile. And the benefit is it's ALWAYS ~20° cooler in the shade.

Damn, all this talk about NM is making me homesick...

I remember going to Phoenix for a week on business and it was 117 degrees in July when I went. Damn is that hot and zero humidity wouldn't help with that temp. I remember coming home to a "heat wave" of 95 degrees and 90% humidity and I didn't need more than the vent fan (without a/c on) to feel comfortable driving back from the airport after only being in Phoenix for 6 days.

2. Too HOT

It was a sarcastic attempt at humor, but I never let anybody know whether I am serious or not by giving such things away. That one was pretty obvious though without a smiley.
