Question Transformers2 Walmart version or Standard Blu ?!?

I plan on buying Transformers 2 on blu ray but while searching online for the best deal (walmart or bestbuy for the B&M stores) I noticed that Walmart's version of Transformers 2 is an exclusive 'imax' edition which is supposed to "maximize your viewing experience with "Wal-Mart Exclusive Big Screen Edition", featuring the biggest on-screen picture available" according to walmart's website. Does this mean that the Walmart version is kind've like a 'full screen' DVD (i.e. cutting off the edges in order to fill the entire screen) or is this just because the aspect ratio for the imax version is somewhat different than the 2.35 (or whatever) aspect ratio of the standard theatrical release??

Anyone knowlegeable please help because I'll be buying this flick as soon as I get off work and since walmart and bestbuy are next door to each other...I would like to get the better version of the film whichever that may be!

If you want the IMAX footage you have to buy it from Wal-Mart.

Mods please move this thread to HD Media.

The IMAX footage accounts for less than 10 minutes of the total run time. During that particular 10 minutes your screen will change from 2:40:1 (35mm) AR to 1:78:1 (IMAX). Does that answer your question? The same thing happened with The Dark Knight, but it had about twice as much IMAX footage.

I wonder if there'll be a seperate Imax version in the UK that is exclusive to 1 specific retailer or if all versions (or non for that matter) will feature the Imax footage, the film isn't out in the UK until late November.

Thanks for the headsup on the WalMart version though, I almost imported this from a retailer not realising there was an Imax version.

I watched and reviewed the movie last night and I still think it's not even worth a purchase at all. If you thought the first one was bad you'll think this one is on the same level as fecal matter.

can't be that bad cause it's got:

1. T & A

2. Giant robots fighting

3. Vehicles transforming into the above

4. A lot of shit is blown up

5. Bombastic soundtrack

What? The plot stinks? The acting is bad? Well what do you expect from Todays Hollywood?

To me the Imax footage means nothing. Like said it is only a small amount of the film. Now when the whole films are made in Imax on BD then I will care........

I got it for $20 bucks at walmart and, having watched it with the family, it's money well spent. IMHO the first film was a three star action flick while the 2nd merits two stars at best. Good action, terrible plot, mediocre acting. The IMAX version is DEFINATELY the one to buy if you're planning on making the purchase.

Why?

1.78 AR excite you? (That's a cropped image BTW)

How do you realize the 30+ Megapixel images of IMAX on a 2 MP delivery system like BD?
