Default Color problems with my brand new lcd Toshiba

Hi, first time poster here.

My wife and I purchased a 37 inch Toshiba LCD TV with a Philips uploading dvd player with a special cable to watch DVD's. (Which is all we do on this TV).
First few days everything is fine, but today the color doesn't work! As in the screen is saturated with color and I can either take it all out -- and watch whatever I am watching in black in white -- or not watch it

This is quite annoying, I've tried to play with the color settings to no avail. Is there a simple answer to this problem?

Take it out of demo or store mode. If that doesn't fix it, exchange it for a new one.

I remember taking it out of demo/store mode when we first set it up, so I am pretty sure that's not the problem. But how can I check if it hasn't reverted back to demo/store mode? I hit menu, and get to mode, but it gives me choices between, theater, sports, etc... no longer demo or store mode....

I was hoping to avoid taking it back to the store, especially since it worked so well for the first few days....

Btw, it all started after we watched our first movie in black and white last night. It seems it has messed up the colors....

Txs!

I was told that posting a question for the first time was in bad form -- sorry about that!

Try turning everything off. Unplug both the tv and the dvd player from the electricity. Then unplug the HDMI from the dvd player and the tv. Wait a few minutes. Replug everything, try it. Does it work, if so, something just got messed up and you are ok. If it doesn't work, exchange it. It could also be the dvd player, so if possible plug something else into the tv or just look at the menu and see how they look after the "replugging".

Who told you posting a question was bad? How else do you get your problem answered. It's fine with me!

Thanks clearday! Just unplugged everything.... We'll see if this works.

I tried to unplug the HDMI cable and switch it with a regular cable, and that worked. But the whole point of getting an upconverting dvd player and an HDTV and an HDMI cable was to be able to get a great quality image.
Perhaps I should get a better HDMI cable? That's what my step-son thinks....

Time to see if the unplugging option worked....

There is no such thing as a better HDMI cable, the $5 works just as well as a $250 one. You could try another one though just to rule out a bad cable.

Default color 'bleed' on Toshiba 37" LCD

I am seeing what I would describe as color bleeding on my Toshiba 37AV50U, reds especially. It is as if the screen is breaking different shades of the same color, and displaying an embossed edge where the two shades meet. Anyone have an idea what is going on, and better yet, how to correct/repair?

Thanks,
Les
