Default Calibrating my TV

I have a 46" Samsung LCD HD TV (model LNT4661FX / XAA). We have had it about a year. The other day I was in Best Buy looking at TV's and the salesman said that Best Buy Geek Squad technicians could professionally tune TV settings (brightness, contrast, etc.) to take full advantage of them.

I found on article on the web suggesting to try out one of a couple of products (Sound & Vision Home Theater Tune-Up or Digital Video Essentials).

Could one of the experts out here in the forums give me our advice? Do either of these products help get the correct balance of settings? Should I take it to a Best Buy? Is there any published suggested settings?

Let me know your opinions. Sorry if there are other posts on this already, but I am a newby.

Absolutely.
Most commonly used by those who frequent this forum are DVE and/or Avia.
Both are very similar; have some pros and cons; but either will guide you to a much inproved picture.
You can find either of them on Amazon.

If you've been happy with your set for a year, why not try one of the discs first.
The BB cal probably would not achieve much more than you can achieve with a calibration disc but will cost 5-10 times more.

It's generally not recommended to use published settings because every set is different due to manufacturing tolerances, component variations, etc. Best to calibrate your set to your settings.

Yes, you might want to browse through the "ISF Calibration" section on this forum.
Quite a bit of good information there.

I just got my DVE disc today. I used the settings from TweakTV.com and they were VERY CLOSE. I had to drop the brightness 2 clicks and up the contrast one and I still have a problem with greens, but every setting I got from that website was close enough.

Give it a try and get the DVE disc from Amazon for $16 to fine tune.
