What about a picture of the disc?

I explained to you that this was a studio-created BD demo which ISN'T slated for commercial production
Why would a studio go through the time and expense of making a single BD which isn't slated for production?

-- I don't HAVE a picture of the box because it arrived in my PO box in a generic jewel case, much like what holds a CD...in fact, Lionsgate couldn't even confirm for me whether or not this was a 1080p encode; I suspect something at a lower resolution.
So then why would you pass it off as a BD review if it could neither be confirmed as a BD, nor did you believe it to be?

Did you try and play it in a SD DVD player?

VIDEO QUALITY:

Without letterboxing due to its 1.78:1 framing, this transfer exhibited a cold, dark appearance which was undoubtedly a stylistic choice by Robby Henson; there's a grainy, gritty appearance which compounds this, and most sequences just don't look that eye-popping. Even the rainy Georgia highway scenes outdoors don't fare well on this encode, as they come off being subdued and a bit lifeless. Interior sequences in the house will test your display's black levels as the varying degrees go in and out of shades throughout the film's run time. There's some flickering compression noise in these dark sequences as well, but I really do feel all these were stylistic photography choices.
How can you comment on it's video quality if you don't know what resolution you were viewing? Perhaps the BD edition would be very different.

I believe Bruce asked for a picture of the actual disc, not the case for the disc. If it is indeed a BD it will have a small BD logo on the actual disc art because the BDA requires this of all BD manufacturing studios.

Some guy "Mike LoMonaco" wrote a review of this mystery disc at HTF. It must be the same mystery review copy, as he comes to pretty much the same conclusions. For the most parts he even used the exact same words as this review here. The review there is filed in their DVD section under "A DVD Review: HOUSE (Lionsgate/Namesake Entertainment/Circle Media)". So i guess that's settled then.
