I could see that presenting a problem on a big HDTV with only one guy to try to carry it. Could be an increased risk of damage also.
Also P. what if the delivery guy tripped while delivering your tv in your house or condo? Seems like the homeowner would have a good case, not to pay out if only one guy showed up.

My TV was delivered by 1 guy, it's a 165 pd tv. I was later told by a friend that moves furniture, this is a common practice. If my b/f wasn't there, I'm not sure what I would do. What if you get injured helping the dude? These companies need address this, because it's a lawsuit waiting to happen, imo!

That is terrible where did you buy your TV, did you contact the place you purchased your tv and ask them why would they send 1 man to deliver your 165lb TV?

Hey,
I just bought my 58'' panasonic the v10 series from EastCoastTV for a awesome price. Ordered last Sunday and got it on Monday morning. Unbelievable. Everything's perfect. So far so good. I would recommend to my friends and families. Will update later.

My order was set to deliver this morning between 7-10

Two delivery guys showed up around 7:38 which was great.. I only missed about 40 min of work this morning which no one cared about.. i took a peek into the truck they had, it was my tv and laundry machines... but overall pretty empty

They bought the box in, allowed me to plug power and my notebook in and i ran a few test patterns, everything look normal and I paid and tip them and let them leave.

I went to grab my cable box and realized that i'm probably the biggest retard, my cable box is only RCA composite !!! it doesn't even have component... so no i must make my trip to time warner tonight or something to get a new box.

Thumbs up TV has arrived...

Got a call Tuesday evening that my TV was "on the truck" to be delivered "tomorrow" (yesterday 8/19). Was actually a week earlier than was expected but gave the OK (who can wait 'voluntarily' for a new TV?!?). Got a call around 8:30 telling me they would be there 'shortly' and they arrived around 10:00 am.

The two guys quickly lowered from the truck onto a dolly. One guy wheeled it in, moved to in front of where it was going, removed the top of the box, plugged it in, loaded the batteries into the remote while I plugged in my DVD player, powered it up, I set the output on the Oppo to 1080i and slid in "Saving Private Ryan". Worked like a charm and looks beautiful.

Then came the only hard part of the whole process - Discover. Due to the amount and, I'm guessing, the fact the delivery company is based out of NY and I'm in PA two states away I had to call Discover, then their security number and finally had to split the purchase into two transactions despite having plenty of balance available... it finally went through and they were on their way.

Since the TV came early I wasn't really prepared so quickly called Dish to upgrade to HD -w- PVR (only $10 per mo increase) and now need to get the receiver (still not sure which brand OR model), rear speakers (leaning towards small Bose 161 wall mounts) and asundry other items to get this puppy going right!

I took pics during the delivery and will post them with progress in general in the appropriate place. If anyone is interested I'll attach the delivery ones here.

My ratings -
East Coast TV's - 9.9 (lost .1 due to the early delivery - but who's complaining?!?), great price, friendly service, free 6' HDMI cable!
Delivery Company - 10 (quick, careful, helpful, and patient)
Discover - 6 (OK on calling to verify my purchase but why two tranactions???
TV - 10 (very early returns - it's sitting on the floor, watching SD TV and upconverted DVD)

All in all
Your mileage may vary!

Congrats!

My advice is to pass on the Bose, and get a real speaker brand. Bose is all marketing and they are junk IMO (and most others opinions too). I would look at the Yamaha & Denon receivers myself for great sound/power for the price point you pay.

Buy your wiring at www.monoprice.com and buy 3 HDMI cables for about $15-20.00 total including shipping and avoid extremely overpriced Monster brand cables. Also pick up an optical cable or 2 and a stereo A/V cable or 2 while you are there, since it will only cost a couple of bucks more and no additional shipping charges to have them handy.

Agreed. Bose tend to be pretty good if you replace the speakers, but given the price tag that's not really worth it unless you bump into some blown Bose. Even then it's VERY room dependent. It may cost a "little" more, unless you shop overstock/closeout, than the Bose 161 but odds are you'll enjoy the Cambridge SoundWorks Newton Series II S205, provided you have at least a 75watt/channel amp.

Yes I did, they didn't have a satisfactory answer for me, other than there should have been 2 people. The company that they hired to deliver tv's, often sends just one guy, I later found out.

I don't have a problem with one guy, if its a light tv, but in my case, it wasn't the case. This was my first purchase of a HD product, I know what to ask, and do now.

Thanks for the congrats and advice. I have a shopping cart at monoprice I'm fine tuning - I saw someone in one of the threads talking about the Monoprice speakers and went there to look. Squeezing in a pair of Ethernet crimpers as well since the prices are so good.

Got lots of questions regarding the receiver, speakers (rear to compliment the Paradigms) and cables to get this all put together - oh, and calibration as well. What thread is appropriate for a mixed bag such as this?

Create a thread under Speakers and Surround Sound from the home page. You will want to list your equipment model numbers and specs(if you know them).

I too am/was skeptical about buying from eastcoast, but yesterday evening (aug 20th) i took the plunge and placed a phone order for a 52" XBR9.

the person i spoke with was a bit pushy on getting me to purchase the extended warranty but i declined since i usually go with the manufacture warranty. i had to repeat over and over i was not interested. this isn't necessarily a bad thing as most companies will try to sell you options/accessories, but i prefer to say i'm not interested just once.

i will let everyone know how it goes..
