I wondering why manufacture released small Full HD 1080p LCD HDTV ?
VIZIO offering 22" VA22LF and HANNspree offering 28" HT09. I think there's no benefit of Full HD 1080p when it displayed on smaller screen than 42". Can you tell me who is the target market for this small Full HD 1080p LCD HDTV ? |

I think in the next few years, as the technology gets cheaper, we're going to see a trend towards 1080p, perhaps even to the point that sets with only 720p/1080i are going to become a thing of the past. Even a couple of years ago, 1080p was out of reach for most average consumers, price-wise. Now, you can pick up a 1080p set for what you would have paid for 720p two years ago.

If I were you I would grab 720p 22'' set because of money. It will be fine for you for next 3 years... and after that I would recommend you something extra... for now 720p is fine.

It's a cynical view, but I would say they point is to sell TVs to consumers with less money to spend on TVs. Many people interested in a new TV know about 1080P and know they should want it, so when they see a small 28" TV with 1080P plastered across the box it piques their interest. They get 1080P, that thing everyone tells them they want, for less than half the cost of a big TV. They don't know the difference.

the average mud puppy consumer has heard "1080p" so much and so often they only know "that's the best". 99 out of 100 have absolutely no idea what 1080p is - they only know they really need to have it. Way to go Madison Avenue !

Congratulations on being 76, it is too bad you write like a 14-year-old. If you want help on your U-Verse remote, you should start a new post instead of using this thread. This OP has a very valid inquiry here. For the same reason we cannot look at our hand with our naked eyes and depict individual cells is the same reason 1080p is considered not to be noticeably better than 720p or 480i (scales depending on size) on sets smaller than ~40" for normal living room/home theater use. Our eyes have a limit on the amount of resolution they can depict. If you sit, lets say, 6 feet away from this 28" HDTV, you will not notice a measurable difference and probably will be wishing you purchased a less expensive 720p set. Like someone else has mentioned, you'd have to sit very close to the set in order to take advantage of the 1080p. Perhaps if this is used as a computer monitor/tv, or maybe it can be used in the kitchen while cooking to watch TV very close. |
