My girlfriend and I are checking out the Sharp 42" 1080p LCD HDTV for $799 ($779 BF) at Dell. We were planning on going for something less expensive, but if we pay through Dell 'Preferred'(?) credit, we can have this paid off before New Years.
Unfortunately, I screwed up my credit last year, but all my debts are paid off now. I decided to apply anyway and of course I was denied. However, I wouldn't have thought that my girlfriend would've been denied. She owns her own car, all of her bills have been paid on time, and she has only ever had one credit card (she has had it for 5 months). She doesn't have bad credit at all, but because of the fact that she hasn't had a credit card long, would this mean she doesn't also necessarily have good credit? If we had been saving up for this TV just two weeks earlier, we would've been able to purchase it in full right away. We only found out about the $799 price today. Since she obviously has nothing bad on her credit record, is there anything she can do to get accepted, such as calling them and asking nicely ?

It's all about the numbers my friend. Has she checked her credit score? That and your credit history is what they look at.

Buy a 37" with cash?
Don't use credit if you don't have the money to pay it off. |

No one here can tell you what happens if she calls them and asks nicely.
