Hi first post here!
If I remux my Hi-Def .ts files to DVR-MS and burn them to DVD, will the Xbox 360 read and play them? If not do I have to convert them to .wmv somehow? I know you can play them if you stream from a media centre PC but I would like to know if I can play HD content directly from DVD through my 360. Thanks in advance, |

Well, I tried this out last night and answered my own question and the answer is no! It won't play DVR-MS or WMV from optical drive!
I'm guessing the only way to go with this, and keep the original quality, is to get Windows Media Center edition with HDTV Pump installed and stream my .ts HD streams from the PC? It certainly doesn't work with TVerisity! |

im not sure you're doing it right. It's possible you went to it through the wrong menu, or that your video files are not formatted properly.
I've been able to play 720p HD movie files in .MP4 format on the xbox from a DVD or a DVD-9: Put in the Disc... wait a few seconds for it to read it. In the Dashboard, tab over to the Media Tab. Go to Video and press (A). Press (X) to change the video source. Select your Disc. Then it should show the files you have on that disc. Pick the one you want, and if it works, you're good! If not, it's probably with the video format. I'm not sure the specs of what video formats the Xbox can play, but I know it definately doesn't play everything. WMV probably can't be de/remuxed. You'd have to re-encode which takes quite a while. MP4 may or may not be able to, I haven't dealt with .ts files. Also, the dashboard might be changing, or has already changed. I just read something somewhere that Microsoft is making (or made) a change on Nov. 19th. Might have something to do with the Netflix streaming. I'll have to go home and check out if there is an update. |

Thanks for the reply, I did try it that way and it said no video files found! I haven't actually tried .mp4 though. Will try your suggestion.
Any no-frills apps that convert .ts to .mp4 without any loss? Thanks |

The xbox 'experience' update is quite cheesy, with the avatar thing BTW! I actually had to lol when it played the intro, thinking I hope it doesn't do this everytime I switch it on!! Seems to take longer to load xbox live stuff too!!
The scrolling windows are quite nice though. |

you know what, I just remembered (it's been a few months since I was into the whole Xbox as a HD player thing). I think the Xbox can only see files 4gb or smaller. So, if you try to play anything larger then that, it won't work.
When I played what I did, I used GOTSent. It's basically a one-click program that demuxes .MKV files, and remuxes them to .MP4 after converting the audio from AC3 to AAC. It also chopped up the movie into pieces that were < 4gb in size. I've never done .TS to .MP4, but apparently it's possible. Just google it and see what you can find. I know we are not allowed to post links to other forums on here, but doom9 forum is really good when it comes to audio video codecs muxing remuxing etc... |

Hi,
Well the only way I managed to get the .ts to work is to convert them to DVR-MS files with TSConverter and setup the xbox to work as a media center extender to vista. The Xbox sees them through media center and plays 9GB DVR-MS files with full skip and rewind/fast forward capabilites and looks fantastic!! No lag on my wireless connection at all!! I am having a nightmare trying to get .mp4s to stream to the xbox though! I know media center doesn't do it but I cannot get WMP to see them in the library. I've tried a reg hack that I saw online, installed ffdshow and k lite codec pack, uninstalling each before installing the other, together with haali media splitter (although the only download I can see on the site is matroska splitter, is this the correct one?) still no luck! As a last resort I tried the Zune software but when I specify the folder containing my .mp4 files it still doesn't add them to the collection! What am I doing wrong? It's a shame it isn't easier to convert .mp4/.mkv files into DVR-MS! There is an app called Ojosoft that claims to do it but not seen any recommendations of it... Anyone any experience with this app? |

not Ojosoft, no.
You should try TVersity for streaming to the XBox. It's more format friendly from what I know, and it's free. It's what I use to stream music and movies. |

See what you mean about Ojosoft, it lost about 70% of the quality, no joke!
I've just burned the .mp4 to DVD and it works from the optical drive as you said. |
