Aspect Ratio???

Is it normal for an aspect ratio of 1.85:1 to fill the whole HDTV screen? Or am i supposed to be seeing the movies in Letter boxed? I can't seem to figure out how to get the picture to be the OAR.

1.85:1 movies should have small black bars top and bottom if your TV does not have any overscan since the 16:9 screen is 1.78:1. Most HDTVs overscan and that will cause a 1.85:1 movie to fill the screen.
