no sound from center speakers and rear speakers ..

I just installed a samsung dvd player that comes with surround sound to my samsung 46 in tv and my motorola cable dvr box ..I have 2 front speakers,1 center speaker, 1 subwoofer, and 2 rear speakers..what i doint understand is when im watching a dvd i hear every speaker of my surround sound system but when i switch to watching cable tv the only speakers i where i hear sound come out from is the front speakers and the subwoofer, but for some reason i dont hear any sound come out of the central nor the rear speakers..any suggestions or is this just not possible ?

I think the problem is in the cable box audio adjustments , try with the user manual to find the right way to config the output audio to 5.1 , and remember it depends on the connection if it's analog or digital.

I have 2 rca audio adapters going from my surround sound receiver to my dvr cable box..They are analog so then im hoping if i connect it with an optical cable i will get 5.1 ..

I saw your dvr box back panel diagram by searching the net , and the analog out is only two stereo outputs the first is to tv and the other to vcr , and the only way to get 5.1 is as you said by the digital audio out.

can i make all the speakers work with analog?
my lcd tv doesnt have digital outputs
i don't need surround sound i just need the rear and center to work with analog
i dont know if u get what i mean

You should be able to if you set the receiver to Pro Logic. It will split the stereo signal into a faux surround. I might be wrong , I've never used the analog stereo cables.
