Default Complete Novice: Help Required

Am looking to purchase my first flat screen, what a mine field. With the boss on my back to " get it done".

Have been trying to get my head round the jargon, and narrowing down the field a bit. For me the tv is going to be used for daytime/ early evening viewing. Mainly standard def through sky hd box. Dvd's from PS3 so gaming too, watching the footy when I get the chance.

Was interested in the sony KDL40V4000, Samsung LE40A756.

This probably makes no sense what so ever. Anybody have any further suggestions or reviews please help. Should probably add my budget is £800.

Cheers

Probably the worst thing you can do is come to this forum or any other and ask a generic "what tv should I buy question". If you ask 100 people that questiuon, you'll likely get 100 different answers.

I don't the have tv you are asking about, so I can't help with that. My best advice is to let your eyes pick the one you want. By that I mean, go to the store, pick out 3 or 4 models that YOU think have the best picture quality. Don't get too hung up on all the spec numbers that don't mean much to the casual user. All of that means nothing if the picture doesn't look good to YOU. Then take those model numbers back home and do some research on the net. Look for all the professional and user reviews you can find. Then armed with that info, pick the one you want.

Samsung is making some of the best LCD TV's on the market. From your choices I would select the Samsung.
