Hey. Am new here and thought I might be able to get some help.
I recently started viewing movies in 720p. I also tried 1080p movies and I got a perfect picture, but no sound. So I thought I would settle for 720p, since I got both picture and sound working on this. But now I have encountered 720p movies that I can not get the sound working on. So i figured that if I get this 720p movie working with sound then my 1080p sound might work as well? Anyway.. The movie is "Hitman.2007.720p.BluRay.x264-REVEiLLE", and there is no sound on it. I also have "I.Am.Legend.720p.BluRay.x264-REFiNED" and that one works like a charm. Clear picture and sound working. My 1080p movie is a The Dark Knight 1080p Trailer, no particular filename. Tried four different 1080p movies though. I have installed both CoreAVC Professional Editio 1.7.0.0, as well as FFDShow. I tried going with just FFDShow and that did not work.. Also tried going with just CoreAVC, and that still worked fine for I Am Legend, both picture and sound. Have to add that all my files are .mkv, and I am playing them with Windows Media Player 11. If I play them with VLC Media Player, then the picture is poor, it "lags" but the sound works fine, with both 720p and 1080p. So, anyone able to help? I have tried providing all the information I can. Feel free to ask if you need to know anything else to help. |

Downloads are inconsistent. Not to mention that they are illegal. Getting them to play back may be hard. I like Media Player Classic. It will play lots of formats. Some other cool software I found are AC3 File, and AC3 Filter. You can play back Dolby Digital, DTS, and make any source Dolby Digital 5.1. Windows Media Player is not very good. If you expect to get files from the internet, you will want to search for media players. A file may work in one player. Another may only work in another player. Remember that MKV, or Metroska, is a container which may have different things inside. Personally, I would stick with legitemate sources of video. You never know what you will get from a bootleg. You may have to spend a bit of money, but the quality will be better.
PS You have to set your computer for the right resolution to see the full 1080p. Last edited by joekewl1971; 08-01-2008 at 03:39 PM. Reason: etc etc etc |

Thank you. AC3 Filter did the trick.
