Using a very very broad statement that may or may not be applied in this discussion. Typically competition between corporations results in advantage for customers. In my personal situation I find this to be true. Though I don't know as much as BobY, it seems kind of simple to me. I wanted both PS3 & Xbox. Coincidentally ending up with both Media players. The only negetive I experience from this is that my TV only contains one HDMI port. Making me have to tolerate the almost unbearable notion of unplugging my PS3 and plugging in my Xbox when wishing to switch to HD-DVD. I feel the "War" helps quicken the price drop as previously stated and having both players by a way of "default" I dont really care who wins or when it ends.

The one positive I can see from this is that prices on players is being forced to drop as one format attempts to dominate the other. For the end user this is a benefit if neither of the formats goes belly up as they did in Betamax vs. VHS and SACD vs. DVD Audio.
