Default How do you reset a Comcast Receiver

Had a previous problem which someone answered with resetting my cable box. Since there is no "reset" button, disconnected everything and replugged everything. This worked the first time. Now I need to reset the box again and nothing I am doing is working.
Anyone have any advice ?

Try leaving the box unplugged for a while.

If that doesn't work, look in the menu system for "RESET" or "RESTORE DEFAULTS" or something like that...

Sometimes Reset buttons are hidden inside and you can only press them using a pen point through a small hole. There might also be a button combination on the remote that resets the unit (less likely as if the unit needs to be reset, it might not respond to the remote).

As Bob said about the reset button. Use you manual to find out about resetting your box. I have Directv and the reset is in one of the menus. It asked me if I wated to take the next step when I said to reset it. I did it and the box just ran the start up menu again and everything came back to normal. You should not have to unplug everything from your box. Also as Bob said unplug the box for 5 minutes or so first to see if that corrects the problem.

I have a Motorola cable HD-DVR which is the same one many Comcast systems use and the best way to reset it is to just unplug it from the wall for at least a few seconds. It keeps all your recordings and schedules, so don't worry about that.
